I Love My City

What: 2019 I Love My City Challenge F3MECA Challenge
When: Friday, April 26 – Sunday, April 28th
Where to Sign Up: https://cooperativeministry.com/get-involved/i-love-my-city
QIC: Kilowatt

Details: Each year Cooperative Christian Ministry – in cooperation with the YMCA, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Coca Cola, and Atrium Health – holds a weekend of service known as “I Love My City Weekend”. Individuals and groups can host a project and there are a wide variety of service projects already available on the website.

CHALLENGE: If your AO meets the following criteria – I pick up one of your Q slots following the event:

  • You recruit at least 10 people (not just PAX – Ms, Shorties, Sad Clowns, all count) to work on a project during that weekend
  • Tweet a backblast by 5PM April 29th. The backblast needs to include a selfie with the recruited participants with the I Love My City sign at the site of the project.
  • BONUS: IF YOUR AO HOSTS A PROJECT (AND GETS AT LEAST 10 PARTCIPANTS) – THAT’S ANOTHER Q SLOT PICKED UP BY YHC! A few parameters:
    • Don’t forget to get a sign for your project.
    • Make sure your project description mentions your AO name and/or the contact has the project Q’s name in quotes
  • Maximum Total Q slots picked up by YHC: 2 (I know y’all could find a loophole)

The project ideas are wide ranging. Here are some ideas:

  • Repairs at a disabled individual’s home
  • Maybe, and I know this is crazy: do something to improve the AO you show up at
  • Building a wheelchair ramp
  • Fix something you broke at your AO
  • Landscaping/beautification…your AO might be able to use it
  • Serve those who serve us: police, fire departments, veterans
  • Cleaning up roadsides and creeks
  • Cleaning up your AO

You get it. Disclaimer: Your project is your project. You are the Q for it.

I know that F3MECA goes outside of the official geography of the ILMC scope…I would suggest either taking a project that’s nearby (like Mineshaft pick up a Harrisburg area project) or interpret the city names as “Greater”…like…the “Greater Concord Area” could include Skywalker.

If there are any questions, comments or suggestions: hit me up in the comments.
