SPEEDFORNEED F3 MECA Inaugural Event!!!

Fellas – the big day has arrived so I just want to quickly run thru a few items about tonight’s event…

1. If you were unable to attend Tuesday’s first official SFN event, please take a moment to read Nash’s backblast here (and be sure to watch the youtube link at the end).
2. I’m very pleased to announce that Jayson Patterson will be our Track Commander tonight (you may know him as the son of @Dougie), and @Frodo will be pushing him.
3. The Streetlight 5K begins at 7:30pm and will start and finish on Means Ave between Union St and Church St.  Here’s the course map.  And here’s a map that shows parking options for the downtown area.
4. You can still register to run, registration will be open beginning at 6pm at the start line.  Entry fee is $20, @JRR Tolkien and @RAD have offered to pay the fee for up to four last minute entries (see the Twitter feeds for @RAD_F3 and @JRRTolkienF3 if you want to take advantage of this; first four to claim it will get it).
5. @JRRTolkien and I will set up the Official F3 SPEEDFORNEED canopy near the start line, probably around 6pm.  Please plan to congregate there before and after the race for a quick photo op with the Track Commander and race chair.  We also have a race card that will go to the TC, need everyone to sign this thing before shoving off.
6. If you are running, we plan to stay together as a group as much as possible.  The race chair will be in the lead and we will fan out in a group behind the chair – we’ll need some guys to carry shovel flags as well.
7. Speaking of shovel flags, if you are coming tonight and have access to your AO’s flag, please try to bring it.  If not, no big deal.
8. If you have no interest in running, please don’t just sit at home tonight and miss this event.  This is going to be a festival atmosphere with a big turnout, lots of 2nd F, lots of fun for the entire family.  We also need a couple PAX to hang around the tent during the race in case any passersby have questions about F3 or SPEEDFORNEED.

That’s all I’ve got for now.  Based on the way HC’s have ticked up in the last 48 hours, we are expecting a very good turnout tonight.  Really appreciate everyone buying in to this new initiative, I think we’re going to have an excellent inaugural event.
