The Day We Sold The Farm
All All MECA BackblastsAugust 1st, 2016
Some things last forever.
Somethings do not.
This morning men came and men took things away from others. These things need to be taken away as men can hang on too tightly. So much so they can become an idol. It hurts when a man loses them. But it makes the man stronger. It gives him something to chase.
I am talking about the highly elusive Strava “Crown” and leader board. Starve has taken F3 running to a whole new level. It is good. Iron Sharpens Iron.
I personally had 2 goals this morning. I achieved neither of them. But I achieved something even greater in the process! Others came with goals also. They did accomplish their goals, but found that others were chasing the same goal and those men accomplished their goal as well. Which took the crown very quickly out of the hands of many.
It was a good crowd again this morning. 15 badasses from MeCa AO’s arose to the challenge of the Senator Royal Repeats(SRR). SRR provides the suck. A gradual climb of around a mile up and of course, you gotta run down it also. I recently discovered NUUN electrolyte replacement and have taken it before my previous 2 runs and have felt really good. I took it again this morning and found that my legs again were not like lead weights dragging me down to an unearthly abyss.
With this new sense of flying, I set out to conquer goal #1. Knock Jelly off the leader board. I failed. I came close, but I failed. Its all good though, cause I’m coming back next week and I will knock him down then. Its all in the process. I will crush him, its inevitable. Then I’m coming for you Grizzly. Its a process you see. Strava has created monsters. And Im not the only one out there.
After my initial glory and head swelling first lap of finishing second to only the Nanny, I fell back into oblivion and the rest of my story is not worthy of an F3 backblast. There were other stories this morning and I shall turn my attention to them.
You see, back in the pre humidity days, a young Farm boy came to SRR and ploughed that thing up like a John Deere dragging a disc plough through some krasnozem soil. It was an impressive effort. The crown was established and it has never been taken. But the downfall of the Farm boy is that along with the rising of the crown, came the swelling of his head. He called us out. Try as we may, we could not take away his crown. But word of the SRR spread. Greater warriors than Tradition could offer come to see. Even sleeping warriors from Traditions past came to see what this SRR was all about. They came, and they did good. But they did not take away the Farm boys crown. This engorged his ego even more. He called down to them from his thrown – “Take it from me if you dare”….”You are not worthy to run on the SRR” and other such nonsense. You see, he was so comfortable on his thrown, he believed himself untouchable. What he didn’t realize was that two of these warriors we battle hardened. Last week was just a test of the defenses. This week was an all out attack on the crown of the Proud Farm Boy.
The battle was brutal. The warriors were stronger than we could have imagined. The Farms crown was taken. First by our own Landlord and then by the warrior with the toughest name in F3…….The Nanny!! The crown is now his. Come take it if you dare!
Many men slogged through it today. Great work gents! We are all getting stronger because of the SRR.
See you next week!!

I liked SRR a lot more than the pitchfork and CF. first time running it today and did three laps in decent time. Ill try for four next time!
Aye! You crushed that last lap Durden! Gotta admit, when you passed me on the 2nd hill, I was a little surprised it was you. Normally I only see you for 10 seconds at the start.
4 laps in 45 mins? I’d like to see that……
Looks like I missed a fun morning. Since I’m not actually doing the BRR, I decided I should work on my Soccer Arms (Thanks Durden) some by doing bootcamps this week.
@Dingo – good luck shaving that minute off to catch me. Also nice fuzzy math, 14 PAX listed but 15 posted?
Work on your soccer arms on tuesday GG. And you WILL be doing the BRR……one way or another……
I will shave that minute. I’ve got a lot of improving to do.
I’m sure I’m missing someone……
Your BBs lately have been almost poetic. Fun reading.
And go ahead and take me dingo. Not bothered at all by it.
Yes you are……
I used to be, but not anymore. I know once I get back into running shape I’ll be able to compete again.
Aye! Great BB!
So are people liking this BB because of the way it was written or because the subject involves me getting beaten?
Seriously though, the adage is true. We get faster by running with and chasing faster men. @Nanny and @Landlord killed it this morning and @Nanny rightfully owns the crown. The question is, for how long…
I remember when we used to run this as part of our routes back this past winter and just one trip up was terrible. Now we’re doing full rounds 2-3 times. Great to see the group’s progress this year. It’s almost race time!
If there was a #Strava for backblasts and your post was a segment, you’d have a crown. T-claps on sharing your impressive wittiness and creativity with us. That was some good reading.
Advance warning….next Monday is the monthly running of The Bonesaw of the North. I’ve yet to take that thing on but plan to. 5AM @ Blythe Elementary. #Convergence??
I keep forgetting about that and @Jolly Roger has been plugging it for a few months now. Hmmmm…
I’m in
Dingo…..Did you find your NUUN local or did you have to order online?
I got it at Run For Your Life, but its on Amazon also. Its the NUUN Active
