F3 is Open to All Men!
All All MECA BackblastsFebruary 18th, 2017
7 men came together this morning at the Tradition AO to log some miles. No frills or anything fancy…just some much appreciated flat mileage. @Dingo texted YHC last night and asked if we should run at marathon pace today. I replied sure. @Dingo seemed to immediately regret asking. As we started off, both of us realized we had not set our pacers on our watches and so it might end up being another LSD day. However, @Brutus is back from his amazing trip to Uganda and seemed very glad to “test” several of us while soaking up the amazing scenery along Prosperity Church and Mallard Creek Road. When @Brutus tells you to run faster, you do it…which means I spent a good portion of the morning avoiding @Brutus.
Anyway, the first route went as follows:

Runners were Brutus, Dingo, Gordo, Pharaoh, The Farm
YHC immediately noticed that @Brutus was running with @Pharaoh and I wanted nothing to do with that and even warned @Gordo about what was going on. When we turned the corner to run up Mallard Creek, @Dingo and @Gordo took off like mad men. @Pharaoh was way ahead and somehow YHC and @Brutus ended up as the six. I think I passed @Gordo at some point and @Pharaoh went back for the six. As YHC and @Dingo are running together, we hear an usually calm voice for the pace we were running say “You guys are moving this morning!” Somehow @Brutus had caught up to us and @Dingo quickly slowed his pace to leave YHC alone with “coach.” I would not let this happen again…
We finished the first route at Tradition, @Gordo bid us farewell and we picked up @King Louie and @Buckwheat. I pointed out to @King Louie that we’d just passed his house and he could’ve run with us. He mentioned something about a king s(h)itting on his throne and I left it at that.
Here’s the second route:
Not too much to say about this route, other than @Dingo decided we should finish this one at 8:30 pace. Apparently YHC’s watch lags a bit because I thought I was running 8:30 but was running more like 7 min pace. Also, I stopped my watch and forgot to start it again and ended up losing some mileage. In order to get 30 miles for the week, YHC had to run 11.1 miles. My M had come along this morning to do some C25K training and was waiting for us in the parking lot…but my bros of course decided that the real reason I was running an extra lap in the parking lot was to impress her and then laughed when I told her I would be with her in a min as we finished up. I am a rule follower and was just following one of our few rules!
The marathon is getting close…LET’S DO THIS.

Good work to everyone that ran this morning. We logged between 5 and 11.6 miles. We achieved our marathon pace. It was a great morning!

Hahaha. Thanks for the BB Farm. I missed running with you guys.
That was fun this morning! Amazing how 11 miles brought out the speed in all of us!
Pharoah simply crushed the first 5.5!!
Was a good run, even if I only did 6 miles this week….. Probably for the better. This was a pretty long week and I was feeling pretty beat. Good running with everyone as always.
