Hero’s info from www.crossfithardcore.com

Army Captain Dan Whitten, 28, of Grimes, Iowa, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, died February 2, 2010, when enemy forces in Zabul, Afghanistan, attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Whitten is survived by his wife, Starr Whitten, his mother, Jill Whitten, his father, Dan Whitten, and his sister, U.S. Army Captain Sarah Whitten.

Why did YHC select Capt Dan Whitten?  A few reasons, I was looking for someone from NC (he was stationed at Ft Bragg) and I wanted exercises that we could accomplish outside of the Crossfit gym (slight modifications).  Also, if Capt Whitten were alive today, I would guess that the 35 year old might be the kind of guy that we’d see locking shields with us at an F3 workout.  #RIP #thanksfortheultimatesacrifice

Many prayer requests this morning on top of the prayers for those deployed and those fallen veterans, including @Dutch’s M who was recently in a car accident and @R2D2 for his family struggles. #SkyQ

Ahoy!
