This Route Looks Very Familiar…

All All MECA Backblasts

November 9th, 2016 By The Farm

YHC stayed up very late watching the election results roll in. Many Facebook messages were read and texts were received. When all was said and done, I believe I finally hit the hay at 1am. Alarm clock went off at 4:30am the first time…you do the math. By the time I rolled out of bed this morning around 5am, YHC realized that in order to not be late and ridiculed by the pax, I had to move fast. I checked the temp…50 degrees aka the most confusing temp ever for me. Do I wear short sleeves or long? Ehh, I’ll grab the shirt closest to me. It just so happens that the first shirt on the top of the pile was one of TWO brand new BRR shirts that I now own thanks to @Icicle somehow not knowing the difference between an S and an M after a few beers as well as @R2D2 not knowing his own shirt size. Sweet!

When I arrived, there were three men waiting. @Pleasure brought up the six and we were ready to roll!

The route was down the hill to WT Harris, up the hill to Prosperity, loop around Bojangles, Dunkin Donuts, BofA, etc, then back to The Valley. Stretch OYO (which YHC REALLY needs to be doing these next few months and beyond so thanks for indulging me), COT, BOM, out!

Announcements:

Moleskin:

I’ve already come to the realization that one of the hardest things about training for this marathon will be keeping an eye on my pace and slowing down. There were many times when we started being pulled by the pax and had to force ourselves to slow down. Funny how a few years ago, my slowed down pace was my fast pace and I could only maintain it for one mile. #f3works

As we were running, @Dingo commented on how we should’ve run that route during BRR training to get used to what’s considered flat for BRR. There’s always next year.

It’s good seeing Pleasure becoming a regular cruiser. You’ve gotten faster bro. Go get that 23 minute 5k. You can definitely do it. Don’t let a few old men show you up, right @Grizzly? Also, let’s work on getting more Davis Lake pax out. @2 Step, @King Julian, and several others could hang no problem during our cruises but don’t know it yet.

Have a good day!

  1. Good job by all.

  2. Bed at 1AM then F3? Sounds like my usual @TheFarm. It sucks.

I’ll start showing up for a cruise sometime soon, since I’ll go ahead and sign up for that Rudoph Run soonish.

Do these always start at the same spot… or is it somewhat random? Seems like it’s been at different areas, but maybe I’m confusing the Monday ones in there too.

    1. Same spot on Wednesdays. Speed on Mondays moves and the starting spot for the Saturday cruise also moves.

      1. Thanks for clarifying… and to double check, where does the Wednesday cruise start? Probably will have to start showing next week and the week after… only 3 Wednesdays left.

        1. Sounds like King Louie wants to be added to the GroupMe running group! Location is Mallard Creek Elementary School, but in order to run the full “Run Run Rudolph” route in time, we have met down Governor Hunt once or twice in the past because it is a mile to the start line from the school (which would make a 5-mile total loop). Depends on the Q.

      2. Farm,

Would you please put me on the text/email message that says where and when the Saturday runs will be? I’m doing the Wrightsville half and would like to do my long runs with you when I’m not working. 412-779-9157 or andrewclarkrx@gmail.com. Thanks!

  3. Good run this morning!

  4. @TheFarm- I thought it was to be 12 miles?
