THIS IS HOW TO WRITE A TIMELY CRUISE BACKBLAST!
All All MECA BackblastsMarch 23rd, 2016
8 men were amazed to see that YHC arrived at 5:25am to Q The Valley Cruise this am. Perhaps I’ve turned over a new leaf? Perhaps I was excited about the ‘amazing’ route I planned last night before bed? Perhaps @Guinness is the new me as he arrived shortly before take-off and rounded out our group to an even 10 pax? Some questions will never be answered… But one thing is for sure. YHC is obsessive compulsive and hates when backblasts don’t follow beatdowns I’ve attended. Especially cruise beatdowns as they have to be the easiest backblasts to write. Therefore, YHC decided to do our brother @Coyote a solid and recap HIS cruise from Saturday also…
COYOTE’S CRUISE (3/19/16)
Start out at Tradition, make a right, run down Prosperity, make a few turns, come back to Tradition.
Pax Present?
I don’t remember…it was FOUR days ago.
FARM’S CRUISE (3/23/16)
Part 1
Start at Mallard Creek Elementary
Turn right onto Mallard Creek and run down to W.T. Harris
Turn around and run back to Mallard Creek Elementary
Part 2
Start at the entrance to Mallard Creek Elementary
Run down the Hill of Shadows, around the loop then back up to the entrance
Repeato x 3
Here’s the visual

Thanks for indulging me and joining me for this cruise. I’ve wanted to Q this ‘route’ for quite some time but was concerned about boring the pax. But I feel like it was a simple but effective cruise that helped us get some hill work in. I hope you feel the same.
We got between 4-5 miles in this morning!
I remember the first time I tried to run that hill pre-F3 and couldn’t do it! And my first time doing it with you guys and it being awful. Today, we knocked out a good distance prior to the hill AND ran it at least three times to finish the cruise. We are getting stronger and it is awesome!
Way to push guys. @Dingo, I hope your back feels better soon.
Announcements:
April 9th at 9am, F3 Dads is coming to Davis Lake. Bring your 2.0s!
Continued prayers for @ManDown

Enjoyed it! Sound off!
2 backblasts in 1!! What a great start to the day!
Wish I could comment on you route, but 2 miles in my back started spasm’ing……heading to the chiropractor at 8:00
@grizzly says to me, as I’m passing him, “I was wondering how you are running the BRR when you’re always at the back?”. It’s called looking after the 6 brother……and I’m slow 🙂
You can just take the “anchor” leg in the relay, Dingo 🙂
Just a little friendly encouragement brother. Hope I didn’t encourage you too much and help induce the back spasms.
@Farm- 20 Cruises don’t make me a runner & 1 on time showing doesn’t make you on time! 🙂 Hate I missed it bud, looked like a good route.
@Dingo- you didn’t have the usual heavies there so someone had to watch all the little scrawny’s backs! #owlsandsuch
Ribshack got jokes… I like it
He sure does @Trail Mix! I was wondering why I didn’t smell smoked ribs this morning…
HEC man! No pork or beef!!
Screw the HEC, just get the stomach bug before the final weigh in. Did you see my number this morning? 188.6 lbs.
And @Ribshack does have jokes, just follow him on twitter. Silent but funny.
That was tough Farm, but a good choice of route.
I was fine with this happening. I refused to do this out of principle. My principle was I forgot….and then I didn’t want to do it….so thank for taking care of that for me puppet!
Great 2nd F this morning Gazebo!
We always pick up the six when a man needs a little help! Even when it’s the Q!
Thanks for all the texts concerning my back. Old injury from my teens that flares up if i don’t go to the chiropractor monthly. I haven’t been in 5 months. I did go this morning though and he cracked me up good.
just need to make sure I go once a month
Sounds like a good run! I took the shorter trip to Highlands Cruise today, still awaiting that backblast, and feel that I am improving. I was of course the honorary six with one guy hanging back (thanks to @Hammer). Feel like I am getting better… only had to stop about 6 or 7 times for about 100 yard breaks today.
I will get back out to the Valley Cruise with you guys sometime in April, after I get back from vacation.
Back in my younger days (like around 2004), I used to live in that area, I remember tackling Mallard Creek Rd from Harris to Prosperity and back… man I am out of shape now, but am posting and making progress.
One other run you can try (if you have not yet), run Mallard Creed Rd, cross Harris Blvd (the dangerous part), run to Baucom Rd and turn right. Turn left onto Harrington Woods Rd, go to the end (really nice valley (down and up) hill, at the end, turn right and look for the greenway entrance. Take the greenway back under Harris Blvd and it will ‘T’ with Legacy Park apartments and the other section of Greenway (I can’t remember which is Mallard Creek and which is Clarke Creek), make a left to head back towards Mallard Creek Elementary (however I don’t remember the route after that)…. or you can take the connector back to Mallard Creek Rd and truck back up that hill again. If now one else has done it and still has not done it later this year… I will Q that run :-).

Here’s a link to that run McFeely mentioned. Looks like a good one at 4.2-4.3 miles. If you stay on the greenway then it’s about 4.4-4.5 miles.
That’s a cool route!
Why are Americans so afraid of crossing roads???
Have you seen our drivers?
You need to travel. Drivers in America are fine.
except, the vehicles over here are bigger than in many other countries.
Glad you like the route…. unsure if they have sidewalk on the other side of Harris on Mallard Creek, so could have a small stretch of off-road. You get 2 really good hills. I just need a few more months of runs before trying it. 🙂
I’ve been plenty of places! BUT, if by “you need to travel,” you mean to go to Australia…then you already know how I feel about that!!!
My darn eyes won’t stop rolling back into my head……
