Introducing the F3 Velocity Half Pipe
All All MECA BackblastsApril 24th, 2017
There is a good and a bad problem that F3 has. As the Q, you have to show up to a workout whether rain or shine. As a Pax member it is optional. After looking at the weather yesterday, with the near 100% chance of rain, I told myself if I wasn’t Qing, what a great day to Fartsack! Well maybe no one will show up and I will just go to the Y and swim or back to my warm and dry house and use the fireplace one last time this year. Then Town & Country HC’s. Then Dingo HC’s. Then Buckwheat HC’s. All in all 7 of us show up in the rain to explore some new territory in the Research Park. SO the good of F3 … with few exceptions, someone will be out there to help and motivate you to get better. The bad of F3 … no matter how wet, how cold and how bad you want to go back to bed, someone will show up and hold you accountable.
But I digress.
We left the new AO and turned left onto David Taylor for a warm-up mosey to Governor Hunt. Introducing the F3 Half-Pipe. Run hard up the first hill on Governor Hunt, recover back down, run hard up the entrance to Electrolux to the 5th light pole, recover back down. Repeat, continuing all the way up to the Electrolux parking lot.
Head down a series of stairs to the bottom of the parking lot and run back up the second set of stair to the top. Repeat 2 more times. Head back down to David Taylor. One more time on the half-pipe, pick up the six and head back to the cars.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Do not adjust headlamp in the dark unless absolutely necessary! Took mine off for 20 ft and found the side of a sewer grate, turned my ankle and went shoulder, elbow, knee first into a river of rushing rain water. If a Q falls in the dark and no one is around to see it … Oh wait, Buckwheat saw and alerted all. Anyway …
Everyone finished strong to the cars, me holding my soaking wet shorts up so not to embarrass myself further. 5 guys even circled the parking lot a number of times for more time and miles.
