Conflict Resolution in the URP

All All MECA Backblasts

June 25th, 2016 By Trail Mix

5 strongmen got stronger this morning by running 7 miles through the rolling hills of University Research Park. Guinness and Man Down got into a “disagreement” (as my parents used to call it) from mile 3 through 5.5. About what, you ask? We may never know. What I do know is that Man Down clearly had the upper hand, as they were running a pretty good pace, meaning Man Down was the only one who could really talk. Meanwhile, Gentle Grizzly, Plato, and YHC stayed about 200 yards ahead, grinding out the road ahead. Plato had sprinted ahead early to get away from Man Down, who kept trying to ask him questions, so he was content to run in stoic silence, wondering if this whole F3 thing was really for him. As for me and Grizzly? We were just wondering where all the #Tradition BRR team was. I mean, 11 weeks out, and there are as many alternates as team members for the first legit “long” Saturday morning run? As alternates, should we be concerned? Should we even care? I mean after all, we didn’t pony up any cash for this thing.
Grizz: “Maybe they’re all on vacation?” YHC: “But what about all the HC’s in the text chain last night?”
Grizz: “…what about all those who never respond to the text chain…?”
YHC: “Maybe they don’t realize how quick this thing is approaching?”
Grizz: “Maybe they’re doing training on their own? Or with a personal trainer?”
YHC: “Or secretly training with the #Highlands BRR team?”
Grizzlit: “Or maybe they’re over-confident and don’t think they need any stinkin’ training?”
YHC: “…maybe they just fartsacked…”

It was at this point that Grizzlit decided to disclose that his M, at home nursing her newborn cub, has no idea that anything called the “Blue Ridge Relay” even exists…..

I’d say that Guinness and I made a great Team today. Although he’ll probably argue with that conclusion. 😉

Special thanks to Patrick Lencioni for the framework of the above 5 points!
