Fifteen PAX shook off Mother Nature and got after it for some Town Center laps…

THE ROUTE:

• Lap 1: Head east down Main, L on Town Hall Pl, R on Town Center, L on Carl Parmer, go all the way around til you get back to Main.
• Lap 2: Same thing until you get to Carl Parmer, take the L on Center Place, all the way around til back to Main.
• Lap 3: Same thing except L on the cut-through between Town Center and Center Place, all the way around til back to Main.
• Lap 4: East down Main, L on Town Hall Pl, L on Town Center, all the way around til back to Main.
• REPEAT as time allows.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

• Mt Afton Challenge is THIS SATURDAY at Afton Village from 8-10am. Packet pickup at The Wine Room is Friday afternoon from 1-6pm.
• Fellowship of the Idiots race coming up on February 10th. As of now i am HC, along with @Talladega, @SaltyDog, @Bonvoy and @Dud. Always a fun time.
• Also on Feb 10th is the F3 MECA Gala at 26 Acres. Bring your lady and catch up with some fellow MECA PAX.
• February 17th we have the Gremlin coming up. It will be a 2-hr event hosted in Mint Hill.
• Praise for @Talladega’s niece on the birth of her twin girls, and for @Firebrand’s nephew who underwent successful surgery to cure his epilepsy.
• Prayers for @Constitution’s friend Vickie dealing with complicated interpersonal issues with friends and family.

MOLESKINE:

We headed out to RoadWarrior this morning, still dealing with the aftermath of yesterday’s severe weather. Floods, fallen trees and other obstacles stood in the way of reaching the AO, but none were deterred. Once there, we kept it in the Town Center, where only the wind remained from Mother Nature’s onslaught. The Route was basic and familiar to most of us, but the many frequent turns meant we were running thru a wind tunnel about half the time. That’s the thing about running in the wind – you notice it when it’s hitting you head-on and then you forget it’s there when it’s at your back. The tailwind was still there though, helping us along – if you doubt me, check your pace(s) on Strava and you’ll likely see that back-and-forth, give-and-take at work.

Probably a life lesson in there about taking something or someone for granted when they’re gently nudging you along, and only really noticing them when they’re a hindrance. Take a moment today and be thankful for those things in your life that help you along so subtly that you forget they are there.

Thank you guys for being out there today in force, ready to seize the beautiful morning Mother Nature provided.
