About 25 or 26 of the most Elite Athletes from Concord and Harrisburg met on the Harrisburg battlefield to finally settle the decades old debate over which AO was better at the Fris’.  The Men of Harrisburg answered the call but when they showed up, the Concordians were already warming up on our home turf.

Scooter, our very own Prodigal Son, had returned to his place of origin with a brand new gang ready for battle.  As they saw us crest the hill, they quickly formed up into formation and started snapping in unison slowly walking towards us.  This intimidation technique worked as half or Harrisburg’s team ran off into the woods..never to be seen again.

We realized in this moment we didn’t have enough guys to square off so we counted off and mixed up the teams.  What commenced from here on out was a battle for the ages!  Team Pinnies leaped out to a huge lead as Team No Pinnies had no answer for our Bids, Breaks and Bookends.

Time was called as we realized we needed to stretch out the field as we were all on top of each other.  No Pinnies immediately took advantage with their speed and came storming back!  The widening of the field completely broke up Team Pinnies tactical defensive strategy (aka being slow).

A barrage of points were quickly scored with the disc flying around between Exit 54, Scooter, and Spud.  Team Pinnies knew they needed to stop the bleeding immediately.  Pocahontas was doing his best to cover the entire other team but (not surprisingly) it was not enough.

Team Pinnies finally came up with a brilliant new strategy.  Next time out of the gate, we got the disc to Anvil….it was in this moment that time stood still…the dramatic music swelled as Anvil reared back his arm to unleash a buzzsaw of a throw surely to slice through every defender on its way to instant glory in the endzone.  As he flung his arm forward and released the disc, it flew out of his hand at high velocity, going about two feet in the air before banking a hard right and rolling out of bounds traveling a few feet behind him.

Anvil exclaimed ‘probably shouldn’t have had me throw that one…’

Back into the action,  the lead kept switching sides thanks to some questionable calls from both teams and some incorrectly lined up cones.  However, Team No Pinnies looked to have an insurmountable lead and an unstoppable offense as they continued to march down the field.  As all hope appeared lost, Expresso decided that he would stop sitting in the back picking grass and play.  He completely took over the game basically throwing the disc down the field and then sprinting down to catch it and score point after point.

As Dick Tracy counted down the imaginary clock in his head out loud, the game ended with Team (Expresso) Pinnies squeaking out a very close hard fought victory.

Epilogue:

Thank you for coming out Concord!  Thank you Scooter for suggesting it.  It was a blast and I think it worked well with mixing up the teams as we all got to meet guys we didn’t know before.  Unfortunately, Oz pulled a hammy but otherwise, I think the majority of us left unscathed. We have to do it again soon.  We were also discussing setting up a larger tournament with a few other AOs.  More on that to come!  Thank you SS Minnow for being our official photographer!  The photos are great!
