All All MECA Backblasts

May 20th, 2017 By SS Minnow

18 pax shook off the boot-camp rigor for a some interval run training disguised as a game of Ultimate!

Mosey to field for team pairings….runners arriving at the field are assigned to alternating teamsĀ  based on their arrival order at the field (to balance speed on the two teams)

CoP

Side straddle hop, Imperial Storm Troopers, Merkins

The Thang

One Minute of Mary

little baby crunch

Moleskin

Lots of non-stop hustle out there guys….you have all worked hard at getting into and staying in shape and its nice occasionally to mix it up.

Here are a few of YHC’s observations…..I know there was lots more outstanding action out there …. add more observations in the comments:

You all have a taste of what an Acceleration workout is like now …cardio! … come give it a try on any Friday morning

Davis Lake 2 Year Anniversary Convergence Next Saturday

Sundial will be moving next Saturday and could use some help …. should be able to knock it out in a couple of hours….then beer

Speed-for-Need is a great initiative F3 is starting … here’s the pre-blast where you can donate.http://f3nation.com/2017/05/12/speedforneed/..talk with Exit54 for additional details too

Segundo is also getting the F3 name out there in a big way with his involvement as a 2017 Charlotte Marathon Ambassador. He is co-leading a Marathon Bootcamp event at STAX on 6/14. This would be a good opportunity to show up in force and workout in our F3 shirts …like F3 pax do at races around town. Here is an event link https://www.facebook.com/events/292948147831739/?ti=icl

  1. Shirts – 2
    Blouses – 0

    1. @Exit54 – sounds about right…

@SSMinnow – this was a great idea when you first did it a couple years, and still a great idea today! Thanks for your leadership!

Life flashed before my eyes as @Tumbler approached, but came away unscathed, which not many can say.

      1. Yeah I think the one thing I learned is to try to be on @Tumbler’s team next time.

  2. …and you have to play strategically when you have no speed and no frisbee skills whatsoever.

  3. @SSMinnow – Thanks for leading the charge on another successful day on the Frisbee pitch.

Like last time, ESPN Ocho carried the coverage. An abbreviated copy of their report is below:

While the two games were highly competitive, the good guys not wearing orange blouses came away with the sweep. The Orange Bowlers had two #2’s (Deuce and Segundo)on their team and the teams play lived up to it. While @Sundial did make a stellar catch in the goal zone, this was not enough to overcome the stone hands and T-rex arms exhibited throughout the day by @Hootie. @Starsky did have a couple of nice plays, picking up a catch after two or three bounces on the turf, play went on for a score, but was later over ruled after viewing on the jumbotron in mega slow motion…OK…it was shown in real-time, but the audio was slowed down for effect. On the other play, @Starsky tracked down the disc deep in the back of the end zone….I mean it was at least like 5 yards deep, prompting the comment from a teammate…”man that was a good run for somebody like @Starsky”…implying that anybody else would have been camped under it.

On the other side of the disk, the team not wearing the Orange Skirts worked their magic like a well-oiled machine…but who would expect otherwise from a crew with major ballers like @Loophole, @Exit54, and @Talladega (#Dega). Those three, along with @Thunderbolt, were all over the pitch. This prompted @Segundo to comment “Aye caramba! Los chicos estan dondequiera!”….exactly translated as “Holy Sh!t! These guys are kicking our a$$!” This came after @Loophole completed a pass to himself 50 yards down the field for one of his 25 touchdowns / home runs / baskets / trys…OK I guess it is just called a score. @Gamma, @BigBird, @Klump, and @Chaos all had solid games as well.

The defensive and offensive play of the game goes to @Chaos for trying to take out his own teammate (YHC). The other team was so flustered, that this led to a break away score.

@Evite has some mad skills – he must have spent some time at App – or plays a lot of Frisbee Golf…but once again, see reference to stonehands and T-Rex arms.

That’s all I got….Good times, fellas. Enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the next time.

    1. Maybe there was a bounce or two. Maybe anyone else would have camped out like Willie Mays Hayes under that gorgeous catch I made but I have to say @SSMinnow I have never had as much fun as I did at that F3 workout. We literally could do this every Rail Yard and I’m pretty sure I would not miss even under 50 degrees. And it has also taken me two days not to be sore so it must be working right!

  4. I think that is the F3 record for longest/best F3 comment – any naysayers?

  5. What a fun time! Already feeling muscles I never knew I had! #sore

The highlight for me was watching Hootie get so pissed that he threw the disc across the field in the other direction.

  6. Good times! The frisbees are available for other pax to use too. YHC also has a set of tasteful lime green blouses for anyone to use if orange is not your color.

    1. I think @Deuce has deemed the orange sarongs as being bad luck….better go lime green next time.
