A team of 9 ball players worked through an entire baseball game’s worth of exercises on the ballfield at Stallings Park.  Here’s how it went:

No Warm-a-rama. We jumped straight into the workout.

A list of 9 exercises (representing the 9 innings of a baseball game) was placed at all three bases and home plate. We started at first base with exercise 1 on that list, going for a minute, with a 10 second break to run to 2nd base to start on that list making our way to 3rd base and finally to home plate. We then started inning two, with those respective exercises, eventually completing all 9 innings for a total of 36 individual exercises.  Along the way we were treated to some baseball trivia by AI Joe (Minnow) and Constitution.

Praise/Announcements/Prayers:

  1. I failed to mention to the group this morning, but speaking of baseball (well, softball), my daughter Ellory got the walk-off hit that drove in the winning run in HRMS’ softball game.  That was the first time she has driven in the winning run on a walk-off hit.
  2. Constitution reported on the fundraiser for the LDS church shooter’s family, organized by members of the LDS faith.  This was the first I heard of this so I looked it up and I must say this is a remarkable display of love, humility and graciousness that epitomizes Christ’s teachings on love and forgiveness.
  3. Prayers for Josh, Lilly, Christian, Catarina (sp?), and others.
  4. Over a quarter of a million Americans are currently either furloughed or working without pay due to the government shutdown which began on Wednesday.  Regardless of your personal opinions on politics, who is to blame, the Federal Government in general or Federal Employees in particular, this is a large swath of our fellow Americans and we should keep these people in our thoughts and prayers. Federal law and tradition dictate that they are paid back-pay once the shutdown ends, and historically most shutdowns end before paychecks are even missed, but there is still a lot of uncertainty right now.
