The Final Highlands Murph of 2020
All BackBlasts BackblastsDecember 28th, 2020
Three PAX chose to open the final week of the 2020 with the Murph, which honors the memory of Navy Seal Lt. Michael Patrick Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005. They were greeted with a little later start than the typical Monday Murph of 0530. @Gordo posted his enthusiasm for a later start and @Guinness let the Tradition boys know that he would be taking advantage of the late option, as well.
A brief WARMARAMA to get the blood flowing: Side-Straddle Hops, Imperial Storm Troopers, and Weed Pickers.
MURPH:
- Run one mile, returning to the HCSC playground
- 10 Pull Ups
- 20 Merkins
- 30 Air Squats
- Repeat exercises ten times
- Run one mile, returning to the HCSC parking lot
Added twist was rotation of cadence calling for Merkins and Squats, idea c/o @Guinness.

COT and PRAYER
MOLESKIN
- Great work today, gentlemen. Thank you for making sure this wasn’t a solo (lonely) Murph for me. While our group was small, the shared push was strong.
- Loved the cadence suggestion by @Guinness. It was a difference-maker for the Merkins and Air Squats and I will definitely be incorporating it in the future.
- Prayers included, but not limited to: gratitude for those who defend our freedoms and keep us safe, especially those abroad during the holidays.
- As we close out 2020, let’s make sure to take the opportunity to reflect on the positives of the year and what we all have greater appreciation for (the many aspects of our lives that we took for granted before March).
