A remembrance field trip
All Harrisburg BackblastsFebruary 15th, 2020
YHC signed up for this Q not too long ago and wanted to head out of the area to do a lil exploring. YHC hadn’t heard of any Q’s heading to Veteran’s Park so this gave YHC an idea. Find a Hero WOD to do at the park to honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our great country. Once you search the intranet for Hero WOD’s there are lots of options that come up but the majority of them require some sort of equipment i.e. weights, kettlebells, etc. YHC searched and found one that he thought would work for the PAX and the area. The clock hit 0530 and all of the runners stuck around so off we went. It went like this…..
WARM-UP
–SSH x 10
–IST x 10
THE THANG
1st stop(Bank): 3 rounds of 15 reps of Incline Merkins, Dips, and Decline Merkins and then take a lap around the building (at this point we were joined by our 8th member)
2nd stop(Veteran’s Park): Do the following workout until time was called by YHC(around 7:40ish). The PAX was able to get through half of the workout due to time.
50 burpees
100 pushups
150 walking lunges
200 squats
Approximately 200m run between each of the above exercises. The full WOD is a pyramid and goes back down to 50 burpees and calls for a 400m run between.
3rd stop(church): Start at curb and bear crawl up to the next parking line and do 20 WWII’s. Backwards run back to the curb and continue this for the remaining parking lines(3 total).

ANNOUNCEMENTS
–Check with Solocup for the details on the bowling challenge for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. The team is needing money and bowlers. It’s March 23rd so let him know how you can help.
–DT is collecting items and donations for the Hickory Ridge raffle and bingo on March 21st. He’s the girl’s soccer team rep so help him out if you can.
MOLESKIN
–The Hero WOD was called Bert and was in honor of U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings who was killed Jan. 5, 2009 in Iraq. He was 27 years old and was from New Castle, PA.
–Good to see that Uecker received a pass to cross over into hostile territory and put in some good work!!!
–Escalade rolled in to the lot in his new monster truck. That thing sounded nice!!!! Guess you can’t hide $$$.
–Tclaps to the pre-runners and they got a bonus 3ish miles during the beatdown. Bunch of beasts!!!
–DT is picking up speed because he took off early from the park and was way out of sight before we caught up to him. Lots of no quit there!!!
–Bull and HKP were like Energizer bunnies the whole time!!! Setting the pace as always.
–Awesome that Wexler decided to stick around after his pre-run since he was hesitant to committing yesterday during the Palentine’s celebration.
–Talladega brought up ice cream as usual and always starts up the main discussions of Coffeeteria.
–For you 1600 calorie-ers you missed out on 55 burpees that you could have applied to your penalty, assuming that you exceeded your calorie count.
–Nice to see Gamma get the 2.0’s involved in a Starsky at Coffeeteria.
–YHC noticed that all of the flags at Veteran’s Park were at half staff. YHC later learned, thanks to DT, that Gov. Roy Cooper ordered that due to the recent loss of Sgt. 1st Class Javier J. Gutierrez. Sgt. 1st Class Gutierrez was killed February 8th in Afghanistan and was born in Jacksonville, NC. This just added more meaning to the work that we put in this morning and to appreciate our freedom because of men like Sgt. 1st Class Gutierrez and Cpl. Gettings.
