Getting Right on the Fitness Side of Things
All Harrisburg BackblastsOctober 27th, 2018
7 Strong gathered up at 6:58 waiting for the bell to ring and class would be in session for another round of #TheRailYard. There were other class clowns circled up in the parking lot, just finishing up from their morning runs….and some of them planned to go back to well for a little more.
@HongKongPhooey lamented about the soggy conditions…”I don’t like it when things get wet, or even moist, I like to be dry…like the Sahara.” No worries @Konger YHC has you covered.
7:00AM struck, the virtual flag was planted, the virtual bell rang, and the group loped off to the lower lot for a little warmarama.
@Talladega’s belly started to ache a little thinking back one of YHC’s previous Q’s and the lasting mark that it must have left on the poor man’s pride. He prayed under his breath…”oh please, Lord, don’t let it be the 4 corners.”
A butchered version of the disclaimer was dribbled out of the Q and we got things moving a little:
SSHx15, Merkins x 12, Squats x 10, and Mountain Climbers x 15
Then we moseyed the long way around to prison yard where we did a 7:1 ladder of burpees and pull ups.
We moseyed over to the playground…this is where @Talladega divulged that the previous 4-corner workout took a little wind out of his sails…The nightmares have subsided and @Talladega is 10X stronger for it…Glad YHC could help. We found some dry asphalt for the Phoomeister, where we did a 7:1 ladder of WWII Sit-ups and Air Squats….then hightailed it to the lower parking lot, by the soccer fields.
We did 3 sets of 10 Wide, 10 Diamond, and 10 Regular merkins. I think is was @Torch who piped up and commented on how easy the first set was…..I think this was the progression:
Set 1: Damn, that was not too bad.
Set 2: OK, I am definitely feeling it now…can we stop?
Set 3: I can’t feel my arms any more….somebody is going to have help me up.
From there, we moseyed to the library steps.
We did crab walks up the steps, 10 dips at the top. Lunge walk down the ramp. Repeato.
Reverse spiderman merkins up the steps. Lunge walk down the ramp….This was per @Klumps request.
Forward spiderman merkins up the steps. Lunge walk down the ramp.
We did a little Indian Run, with 1 Burpee off the back to the shelter. Here we did 3 sets of 10 Decline Merkins and 10 Dips. Then we rolled out down Heart Rate Hill to the new shelter by the old post office….more dry land work for @Phoomanchoo….30 LBC’s and 10 Vee Up. Repeato.
We did a quick mosey back up to the #PrisonYard where we tried to get as many sets of 10 Incline Merkins, 10 Pull ups, and 1 Lap as we could with the remaining time…It ended up being 3 sets.
Then we moseyed out to the main drag to welcome in all of the foozeballers that were beginning to roll in. Apparently, foozeball has a different temperature threshold than workouts for @PapaJohn. He greeted us at the lower parking lot, as he helped his 2.1 (#PeytonJR) get suited up.
We planked up at the bottom of the hill….with a cascading start, we did 5 merkins and then ran all you got to the top of hill and back to base camp.
At Mary, we were greeted with the runners @Pharoah, @Hokie Pokie, and @Hop Hunter…I might be missing one here…. and for Mary we did LBC’s x 15 and J Lo’s x 10.
@Talladega took us out….Thank you for that.
All in all, a great group this morning. Thank you guys for coming out and being willing to play along. I hope you got your money’s worth. Be sure to log all compaints with @SoloCup…cause he is one ornery bastard that will be certain to tell you where to go.
The truth is, if you don’t like it, then step up and do it yourself…give it your own spin. If you do like it, then step up and do it yourself, too….try to do it better. (It is not very hard to do it better than YHC)
Thank you to all of F3 for what it brings to me and the entire community….keep it going.
Announcements:
- Of course @Chaos has something going on with a Spartan somewhere. Catch up with him to get the details.
- Good luck to all those runners that are running the Charlotte Marathon….formerly known by the much cooler name “Thunder Road Marathon.”
- Volunteers are needed for the F3 and Speed for Need tent at the Expo on Friday. Sign up here if you can help out and see Exit54 with any questions.

You read my mind there Bull. The 4-exercise prison yard beatdown is a permanent memory. Proof that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
And as usual, classic back blast, what a talent.
Definitely come to me with complaints. I can’t wait to hear them.
Thank you for stepping up to lead brother and for making us all a little better.
