Round 1
All Harrisburg BackblastsJune 21st, 2018
6 of Harrisburg’s best threw caution to the wind and flat out showed up. Incredible. The rest, well, who knows what the rest of the crew was up to. I am sure that the Blue Pill that they choked down this AM is certain to make their balls inflate to the size of grapefruit, their pingadipolis shrivel, and their biceps turn into chiseled steel….Read the fine print, I am sure that it is there.
I guess my Q’s are so bland that the rest could not take the monotony this AM.
Speaking of bland, an anonymous source, operating with the code name @Exit 69, has recently pointed out that The Ridge has become a bit of a bore….that Harrisburgians have lost their edge…washed up…all we ever seem to do is the Old Glory, or some modified version of it. The truth stings a bit, don’t it. Well….challenge accepted, time to change things up a bit….but that doesn’t mean that my workouts will change all that much…I have something else in mind.
YHC has seen quite a few quotes lately, so I guess I will take a stab at it.
The reactions this morning were pretty typical, I will let you try to match the quotes with the PAX:
- “oh, I guess we’re just going to run this morning, huh. Is that all you know how to do?”….probably, and some other stuff, and you’re probably right that’s pretty much all I got. Let’s see.
- “I am just coming off vacation, a six month hiatus, and heard that it is going to get cold soon, so I figured I better get it in while I can.”…..Stop being such a P#%SY. All the carbs you had last week should have you running like a well-oiled machine.
- “All right guys, Bull’s got the Q, just what I needed before I head out to the mountains. This is gonna be another great morning.”….I hear ya man. I get it, you’re a stud. This is just a cool down for you.
- “Did you ef’ing read my shirt? I don’t run. All you fly-weights like to do is run, like it’s fun or something.”….Do whatever you want to call it, just don’t stop moving.
- “But I ran here, does that mean I can just rest up until Mary and then run home?”…Nope, you’re here, so you’re gonna do like you always do. Work hard, then head to the house.
Well, since there was only 3 of us at the start, not all of quotes above came at the beginning of the workout, but trust that they truly did happen in some form or another. As the bell rang at 5:30, me and Papa John were ready to slap this SOB workout in the lip, and Big Bird sprinted up. Rushing as he was, he must have been worried we were going to leave him, so I thought was only proper to re-trace his steps back to the stop sign. Watch out for @SS Minnow rolling in on two wheels. He spun his truck neatly into a parking space, set the parking break, opened the door and rolled out….all in one motion. He hit the ground running and made it to our position just in time to catch a couple SSH’s. @Dick Tracy snuck in at some point and so did @Evite. @SS Minnow warned YHC of @Evite’s presence as we were making our way down Raging Ridge toward Stallings Rd, so we doubled back to pick the man up. Apparently, those two had been running in circles since 5:00AM as a little warm up. T-Claps for that non-sense. I thought about playing a little catch me if you can with @Evite, but YHC is pretty sure he would have thanked the Good Lord for the opportunity to escape and gotten back in his car to head to the house, or Bojangles, maybe. Anyways, we screwed around on Raging Ridge making our way up to the light on Hickory Ridge, stopping at the cross roads for some diamond merkins, lunges, and jump squats. Once we got to the light, I let everyone know that we were going to run a little bit….the whole banana, called Raging Ridge Road. From Stop Light to Stop Sign. Here’s the deal… you run from the start at 80 to 90% effort to the next stop sign, then you find a recovery pace (run, walk, crawl,…whatever) until you hit the next stop sign, then pick it back up at 80 to 90% effort…..and continue that pattern until you get to Stallings Road. Everybody did amazing. It was truly remarkable. They loved it.
They loved it so much that YHC decided to throw them a bone and mix in a little upper body. So we moved over to the bridge and did a series of decline / incline merkins, rapid-fire. 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 of both incline and decline….bam done. Now, @Evite did not appreciate my mellow attitude during this exercise, said something about me mocking the greatest showman, Bob Ross. Sorry @Evite, next time YHC will bring a little more upbeat attitude for you.…..in the mean time, get back on the line. That’s right, back up Raging Ridge…but this time it is from Stop Sign to Stop Light…so it’s different. No hum-drum monotonous workout from me. I mix sh!t up, like Cut Creator.
Finish what you can, then head back to base camp for a little Mary….some LBC’s and Dying Cock Roaches seemed appropriate at the time.
Thanks, @DT for the take out.
Thanks guys for coming out. Weather you knew I was Q’ing or not. Hope you liked it. I would not do this non-sense without you guys.

That @Exit69 character sounds like a whiny baby.
Sorry I wasn’t there. I stayed up til 11 to watch my Heels put away Oregon St in the 7th inning, then stayed up til midnight to see us lose it right back.
I demand to know the name of the blasphemous agent disparaging Old Glory. Don’t like it? Sign up and lead.
You’re the all time champ when it comes to writing a BackBlast brother. Thanks for taking the Q!
This was a struggle for an Ultra Clydesdale like me. But I’m happy I went. And I still hate @Bull’s Q.
