Sgt. Frank J. World, KIA 04/01/10
All Harrisburg BackblastsNovember 17th, 2017
11 men honored Marine Sgt. Frank World, 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
We were joined by Rooster, who was friends with Frank since their high school days in upstate New York. They graduated together then joined the Marines together. They were separated in different units following School of Infantry, but were reunited briefly in March of 2010 in Afghanistan, just days before Frank’s humvee was struck by an IED. If you want the full story, you should have posted.
The Workout
Frank was a PT fanatic, and the standard PFT was too easy for him, so he would do it weighted. We did a (very) modified version of it:
1 mile run
40 push-ups
100 sit-ups
Repeat until 0615
COT
RED Moleskin
1. Thanks to everyone for posting. Special thanks to Rooster for coming out, as well as Phidippides from Concord (yes, I had to look up the spelling). The workouts themselves are done in honor of someone who paid the ultimate price for serving his/her country, but the bigger picture is keeping in mind all those who are currently in harms way (including law enforcement and first responders). Puts all of our “issues” into perspective.
2. A few of us added a ruck/vest for parts of the workout, but I believe Wexler pushed through the whole thing with it. Nice job to all!
3. Next week is our last RED Friday workout, with Solo Cup at the helm. If you haven’t posted for one of these, please consider it.
4. Be sure to check the weekly e-mails for announcements – including our 4th annual Turkey Bowl next week, another event in support of the Church of God Orphanage and a canned food drive Solo Cup will be leading.
Pax tibi,
Gamma

Nice work this morning.
Oh, and just a few notes from coffeeteria:
1. It’s now “Mr. Oz” to the common folk.
2. @FlipPhone is accepting applications for his next relay team. He’ll require certified finish times from your last 10 races, three letters of reference and a drug screen. Following the live interview, he’ll let you know if you’ve made the alternate list. For van drivers.
3. Never make @Kojak mad with coffee around. Ever.
Great job this morning guys.
Humbling to hear the stories of their sacrifice and dedication to our country. Thanks for coming out @Rooster! We could hear your fellow birds calling for you just before you arrived.
Good to “run with’ @Phidipides this morning. Fast!!
Coffeteria was hilarious this morning. Kojak is dangerous … Be careful! We definitely can’t have nice things around him. And I’m sure he took notes on how a proper eviction works from us “real professionals”. Oz was helpful as usual, “just run 30 miles, then you won’t cramp up at mile 22”. Thanks man! So easy, why didn’t I think of that??
Great lead as always Gamma and safe travels up to the Windy City. Also thanks for the pre-ruck.
Thanks Rooster for coming out and giving us some personal insight into Sgt. World. Very appreciative of your service.
Lots of knowledge and nonsense was dealt at coffee. That’s all I have to say about that.
