Red Friday WOD – Whitten
All Mint Hill BackblastsSeptember 22nd, 2017
Seven Pax wiped the crust from their eyes, entered the gloom, and traveled to “The Vet” for a Red Friday Beatdown in honor of one of our fallen – Dan Whitten.
Army Captain Dan Whitten, 28, of Grimes, Iowa, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, died February 2, 2010, when enemy forces in Zabul, Afghanistan, attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Whitten is survived by his wife, Starr Whitten, his mother, Jill Whitten, his father, Dan Whitten, and his sister, U.S. Army Captain Sarah Whitten.
We circled up at the flag, carried the KB’s to the track, reviewed the WOD and began the Thang. At this time a “half-ass” disclaimer was given by YHC and we were off. It went something like this…
22 KB swings
22 Burpees
22 Box Jumps
22 Bobby Hurley’s (in lieu of Wall Balls)
400 Meter Run
5 Rounds for Time (RFT)
Most everyone completed 4 rounds, only the elite of the group started their 5th until time was called by YHC. A 5-burpee penalty (that’s all?) was called at the end due to one of the Pax failure to wear RED on RED FRIDAY! #youknowwhoyouare.
