The return of The Fishbone

All All MECA Backblasts

June 28th, 2017 By Sugar

Sounds simple enough…..an out and back with pain stations.  But The Fishbone is never simple…….she’s a mean course with a fast pace that you’re forced to stick with.  Some say relentless…..only one way to find out:

The Thang:

‘Mosey’ down the Double Lizard Greenway from WROPS entrance to the Alexia entrance out and back with 17 pain stations, PAX choice.

Pain stations: SSH, Cotton Pickers, Merkins, Dancin’ Bear, Slow squats, Burpees, Incline Merkins, Dips, WWII sit-ups, Bunny Hops (you know, cause we saw lots of ‘wabbits’), Decline Merkins, Prisoner squats,  Shoulder taps, LBCs, Plank fiasco, Hand release Merkins, Incline Merkins.  And apparently Heat Stoke is a bit OCD so he called one at the home base to make and even 18 – CDDs!

AND…..we even had time for Mary! – Dying Cockroach, The ‘W’, Mason Twists!

Details:  3.32mi at 11:51.

NMM

Along with the pain came some ‘entertaining’ conversation that can only come from the participating PAX this morning.  Not a big fan of running but I love/hate the fishbone.  Pace was good today, wasn’t sucking wind too much but only because of the mild temps.  This was fun too, great group of brothers to spend some time with this morning and a great way to start the day!

  1. Aye!!

  2. Clearly bunny hops and “plank fiasco” weren’t so well received. The plan was broad jumps across the long bridge but you ran too far so little hops on the little bridge was the call.

Good pace fellas. Definitely was pushing to keep up.

  3. Nice perfomance gentlemen. Tclaps to Sparknut for sporting the weight vest and to JB for running to and from the beatdown. I thought we were changing the name from Bunny Hops to Meat Helicopters………………….and Marie just got it.

  4. It was good to be together again for the Fishbone…felt like old times.

FYI: Apparently Strava auto-stops for the pain stations, which recorded my pace at 8:21 for 3.5 miles. The last .5 mile was the hottest at a 7:44 pace. Nice work gentlemen!

  5. There was no FNG sighting but some familiar Fishbone faces this morning.

Good call on the Fishbone, Sugar. The group stayed pretty tight today, even with Sparknut lugging around the weight vest and Jimmy’s pre-run.

This is something any of the PAX can do, the route lends itself to altering the length as needed so any PAX can hang with the group. If you have ever thought about it, quit debating and just do it.

    Until next time.
