This Hill Would Be A Great Place To Mount A Ham Radio Antenna

All All MECA Backblasts

Don’t you love it when something unexpected happens to brighten your day? It was actually a memory that was triggered during a run this morning. There were no other Acceleration takers on scene at 0530 so YHC called a audible (figuratively, of course, since no one was around to hear it). Rather than solo speed intervals, YHC opted to explore the hills of the Bridgepointe subdivision across the road from the school. I was at the top of Foxfield Dr, the highest point in the neighborhood, and that is when it hit me….this would be a great place to mount a ham radio antenna! You see, my dad was a ham radio operator from way back (W4TAG)…he built his own radios. I don’t think it was a coincidence that the house I grew up in, in Harrison, TN, sat on top of the highest hill in the area. He, and my mom too, instilled a love of life in me that I will forever be grateful for. My dad is gone now, but the good memories continue, especially at Christmas-time. Fortunately, my mom is still alive, and still living on top of that hill. Star and I will go visit her next week.

Merry Christmas to all…share the love while you can…and keep the memories alive!

  1. Thanks for sharing @SSMinnow! You weren’t alone out there… regardless of attendance at acceleration.

  2. Solid, @SSMinnow. Solid. The silver lining of a solo post is you have an opportunity to just listen. Thanks for sharing.
