Kettlebells for Dessert

All All MECA Backblasts

November 25th, 2016 By Schnitzel

4 PAX fought the fartsack and posted for a post-feast beatdown with the kettle bells. It was a great morning, clear skies and crescent moon hanging low over the Harris Teeter. YHC started with warm up jacket but it didn’t last very long.

Warm A Rama
Mosey over to the Suntrust bank parking lot. While running with bells, we had discussion on pros and cons of running with the bells. Stop at the drive thru window for a little warm up:

The Thang
Stole a page from Hula’s playbook from way back and used the steps behind the bank for reverse spider man, timer for the circuit that went as follows:

We used a ghost runner at times, but the spider man timer did 5 burpees at the top, just to give the rest of the PAX more time with the bell, and YHC provided that time in abundance – thanks to the pecan pie the day before.
Repeato.

Then we picked our bell and did a 1-1-1, 2-2-2, 3-3-3… increasing reps up to 10, for the 3 exercises of curls, skull crushers and overhead press. Sparknut led the charge and we all joined him at round 9, so I think I missed the 8 rep round. Take a lap around the bank to get YHC’s arms to stop shaking.

Next, 3 exercises of Chest Press, W, Lat Raises, up to 8 this time. Take a lap.
Next, exercises of upright tow, Lawn Mower Pull (left), and Lawn Mower Pull (right). Take a lap.

Back to spider man circuit for one more round.

Mosey back to parking lot for LBCs x 20.

Well done. I was looking forward to this all week, that is, until 4:50am this morning and would have been quite content to be the only one to post, and turn around and go back to bed. Thankfully, the PAX kept me honest and now very glad we pushed through it. Felt a little woozy mid-way through, but that was the pumpkin pie talking (oh did I have 2 pieces of dessert?). Glad you all came out and hope you weren’t disappointed.

See you next week.

  1. 4 brave PAX indeed! Where were the usual suspects? -Marie, Milkbone, Sugar, Hula, Ty Webb. Maybe the Isotope convergence… Ok, Sugar was in OH so he gets a pass. I thought they’d be out in droves to burn off the previous day’s carb load. And what about Waterboy, and why haven’t we seen Stretchy at a BellBuster. Ok, I’m done calling everyone out.

@Schnitzel – Your beat downs are historically sneaky. I started off talking smack in my head while I was doing #35 chest presses a then a few squats, but throw in those burpees after the Spiderman crawl x 3 rounds and I was spent. Those 1-1-1, 2-2-2, etc, were awesome. I felt like I had 20″ biceps after those. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when I looked in the mirror and found out it was only a feeling.

Strong work by the 4 this morning!
@Chachi, always good to see you out there. I’m glad we have an offering at RS, where you can join us.
@Decaf with the Kettle Bell Jail-break at the end! Where did that come from?

  2. Sparky and I converged in Isotope country. Our workout was better for the following reasons:
    1. It didn’t start until 0700.
    2. It lasted for an hour (more calories burned therefore more room for leftovers and beer today)
    3. There was beer afterwards.

In other news…TrueGrit launches from Bailey Road Park at 0600 tomorrow. Marie has never been that far from home, so he probably won’t be there.
