Tough decisions were made early in the gloom this morning. You see, 2 options were given, post at 5:00am and get your 10 in early, or post at 5:30am and get your 10 in late. This caused some heated discussion amongst the pax in the high tech world of the text. Which was more manly? a 5:00 start or a 5:30 start? Who really cares….10 miles is 10 miles.

6 men made the 5:00 decision. It was a good enough decision. It had its benefits. It meant you did not have to make the choice of whether to keep running when the first group was done. Even though there were only 6 of us, there were 3 clearly distinct groups. Man Down and Gentle Grizzly took the lead and I actually never saw them again. R2D2 and Cinderblock established a nice 1/4 mile lead on Major Pain and I. And so it was for the next 3.6(ish) miles. We did the Fairlea greenwway look back up to Tradition AO. This was the most enjoyable part of the run for me.

4 men waited on our arrival. Trail Mix, Pharaoh, The Farm and Urlacher. 4 speedsters ready to get their 5:30 on.

We fueled. Major pissed. we ran.

Major took off and set a fast pace, which was surprising because he had spent the last 3.6 miles telling me how he wanted to run slow and these young bucks were too fast for him. Well……I never saw Major again, for the entire run. #rabbit

The next 6 miles took us up to Highland creek and through the Beauvista loop and back.

This is where it started to suck for me. I was sore…..all over body sore. I had a sharp pain in my shoulder every time i turned my head and I was sweating so much that my shoes were filling up with sweat and my feet and shoes became completely saturated. To the point that R2 asked me why my shoes were squelching. So it sucked. I ran some, I walked some. But with R2’s help, I got it done.

Hard to report on a cruise when you are the constant 6. Im sure fun times were had, jokes were made, pain was experienced.

Good work by all! Especially Major P who knocked out 14 miles today!
