Tabata and a tired Q

All All MECA Backblasts

July 22nd, 2016 By Forgotten Jelly

YHC woke up this morning cursing my alarm clock after only get a few hours of sleep. I just knew that I needed to go back to sleep instead of trying to lift a 45 lb kettlebell over my head. However, I dragged myself out of bed knowing that an FNG would be there. I finally pulled into the parking lot at 5:29 and announced one minute! Rib Shack muttered something about how he was about to take over since I wasn’t there. Have no fear brother, Jelly is here!!

After a quick disclaimer, we took off on a really short mosey to get the blood flowing. This was followed by side straddle hops, arm circles, and Michael Phelps.

The Thang
I broke out the iPad and small speaker for our tabata workout. After learning about this type of KB workout from Dingo, I’ve noticed how typically have the best KB workout when I do one just like this. Something about that stupid clock counting down makes me work harder.

We did the following seven exercises, 30 seconds on, 10 seconds rest, 8 rounds each exercise.

– curls
– pullover
– high pull
– Tricep extensions
– lawnmower pull
– chest press
– shoulder press

Of course, I realized quickly that I messed something up and we only did seven rounds for the curls and pullovers. I quickly fixed this so we could get the full experience for the remaining exercises. Everyone seemed to be really happy with this.

No time for Mary this morning.

Moleskin
– I hope everyone found this challenging. I certainly struggled with it this morning.
– Nice job in bringing out the new 45 lb KB this morning @King Louie.
– After reading Dingo’s BB yesterday I felt that I needed to try to step up and do one like that. After very little sleep last night, I decided to hell with it. Maybe next time.
– Welcome to Mad Hatter (formerly FNG Zac). We learned that Zac is an Arkansas Razorback fan. I casually asked him who he thought was their biggest rival in the SEC. He responded the way I expected, LSU! Brutus realized real quick that I would probably want to name him tigers or something like that since we did something pretty similar to him. However, as a former LSU employee, I remembered that the Les Miles’ (LSU head football coach) is called “The Mad Hatter.” And now we have Mad Hatter at tradition. The other option was Alice, but we will save that just in case he complains about Mad Hatter.

  1. Sound off below!

  2. “only get a few hours of sleep. I just knew that I needed to go back to sleep instead of trying to lift a 45 lb kettlebell over my head.”
This is me before about every F3….. Average time of getting to bed before it tends to be ~12AM. Last night was after 1AM though.

Always like the pain of Tabata.

    1. Glad you enjoyed it brother. Tabata KB workouts are definitely challenging which is why I will do them at home. They are effective.

  3. Thanks for welcoming me in fellas! Great workout this morning. Struggling to type at the moment.

  4. @Jelly- I really didn’t even think much of the workout until I had the opportunity to have my hands over my head and THEN I remembered that it sucked & all those reps really brought the burn on!!! Good one, I enjoyed it.

@MadHatter- welcome to F3 & Tradition, glad to see you out!! It was a fairly docile group this morning which is surprising considering Jelly usually arouses the ire of many a PAX! Or maybe that’s just @Dingo & @Buckwheat?

    1. I think that’s more @Dingo and @Buckwheat than anyone else.
