Love and Marriage…and a Basset Hound?

All All MECA Backblasts

May 28th, 2016 By Thick Burger

5 of the baddest mamma jammas on the northeast side of Charlotte got together for some fun in the sun on this glorious morning. Before the #paintrain left the station, Dr. Doolittle and Deuce decided to get a little pre-workout run in. I believe they carved a 3.5 mile path before returning to the launchpad. The pax began with 5, but Dr. Doolittle had to bounce out early for work. Duty calls my good man…see ya next week.

Okay, so 4 of the baddest mamma jammas on the northeast side of Charlotte got together for some fun in the sun…

The QIC seemed genuinely confused by the layout of the AO, which is strange when you consider that he’s been here several times in the past. Chalk the confusion up to old age (hey…he had a birthday this week and is getting older!)

Warmup
SSH x 20
Good Morning x 12
Windmill x 10
IST x 15
Hillbilly x 15
Merkin x 10
Perfect Merkin x 8
Mountain Climbers x 10

The Thang
*more confusion by the QIC*
Mosey to the playground area for the first session…
Circuit workout rotating between stations until the QIC got tired:
Station #1 – 5 pullups
Station #2 – 10 dips
Station #3 – 15 air squats
Station #4 – LBCs

Mosey on over to the softball diamond. The QIC made sure to point out that this next exercise was in honor of his first-place Chicago Whitesox. It’s time for some Burpee Baseball!! We played 3 innings:

1st inning: 1 guy does 1 burpee and the runs the bases. Meanwhile, the remaining members of the pax will hold a plank. Once the first man crosses home plate, another guy gets up to do a burpee and run the bases. Everyone else remains in a plank. Once everyone has had a turn to run the bases, the inning is over.

2nd inning: 2 burpees and a lap…rest of pax holds a plank

3rd inning: 3 burpees and a lap…rest of pax does the Al Gore (air squat while “hugging” a tree)

*once again the QIC looks confused and disheveled*
LONG mosey up to the bath house. After that long run to the bath house, why not continue the torture of our legs?
2 rounds of the People’s Chair (for 30 seconds each)
2 rounds of the People’s Chair with air presses (15-count)

Short mosey over to the grassy field. At this point, the pax is beginning to worry about the QIC. He tries his best to explain the next exercise. It was a method of conditioning used by his high school football team…called “running a dolphin”. A dolphin is where you run the width of the football field down and back twice…that’s one dolphin. Well, since there were no markings, we simply ran from one end of the field and back several times…3 dolphins in all

Time was of the essence, but the workout wasn’t done. Before heading back to the parking lot, we stopped at some park benches:
1 set of incline merkins x 10
1 set of decline merkins x 8
1 set of dips x 8

LONG mosey back to the parking lot. Time for Mary

LBCs x 25 OYO
Freddie Mercury x 15

In yet another weird twist, a pedestrian and his basset hound walk up to us, and we took a break to pet the dog and chat with the owner. The dog was super friendly, and it’s pretty obvious the members of this pax are all dog lovers. After receiving what he believed to be ample attention and affection, the dog left the pax to finish our business.

Mason Twist x 15
WW2 Situps x 10 OYO

1. It was great to have Al Bundy back with us. He’s been to F3 before, but has had a bit of a hiatus. Pleasure meeting you my good man, and I look forward to working out with you in the future. In honor of your F3 name, I decided to title the Backblast after you! Just an additional note…Al Bundy was so dedicated, that he actually jogged from his house to the AO…and then jogged back! #STUD

2. Deuce decided not to wear his customary pants and wanted to show off the legs today. #bringingsexyback

3. Props to Constitution for taking point on the final mosey back to the parking lot. Like the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears…your pace was JUUUUUST RIGHT

4. Please keep the family of Dr. Doolittle in your prayers, as his sister-in-law is still battling with complications from a pregnancy.

5. Thick Burger finished the day by dropping a bomb on the pax…he’ll be relocating to another part of the city. He won’t be too far from the Boondocks, and plans to come back periodically (this is my F3 home). Heads up to the following AOs: The Tradition, The Valley, and The Precinct…THE PAIN TRAIN IS COMING TO A PAX NEAR YOU

  1. Nice beatdown, Thick Burger! Congrats on the new house, but I’m not too happy about losing you on weekday workouts. I know the pax at your new AOs will bring the appropriate amount of pain down on you. Have fun up there.

Al Bundy- Cotters. Nice to have you back in action. No excuses now that you have a workout in your back yard…you’re welcome.

  2. Hate I missed this one, Thickburger. Did Acceleration with Minnow and Doolittle yesterday and my knee’s been barking ever since. Good luck with the move.
