The Inaugural Skywalker Beer Mile Invitational
All CSAUP BackblastsJanuary 1st, 2016
Many PAX have talked and dreamed about it. For a lucky 7, this dream has now become a reality.
The Thang
- Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
- Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
- Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
- Drink a beer, run a quarter mile.
Rules
- Each competitor drinks four beers and runs four laps.
- Beer must be consumed before the lap is begun, within the transition area which is the 20 ft zone at the start/finish line.
- The race begins with the drinking of the first beer in the last meter of the transition zone.
- Competitors may drink canned or bottled beer that are at least 12oz.
- No specialty cans or bottles may be used that give an advantage by allowing beer to pour at a faster rate. ie. “super mega mouth cans” or “wide mouth bottles” are prohibited.
- Beer cans or bottles must not be tampered with in any manner, ie. no shotgunning or puncturing the can/ bottle except for opening the can/ bottle with the cap or tab at the top.
- Beer must be a minimum of 5% alcohol by volume.
- Each beer must not be opened until the competitor enters the transition zone on each lap.
- Competitors who spill merlot before they finish the race mus complete one penalty lap at the end of the race (immediately after completion of their fourth lap)
Moleskin
- Huge thanks to the Ms who helped with the logistics
- We didn’t have a loop or track to run on so we improvised with a there and back route on the cart path with only minimal hills.
- Merlot was spilled multiple times, first by YHC. Let it be know that a sushi dinner prior to the race is a very very bad idea.
- That was much harder than I expected, those last couple beers were hard to get down.
- Stagecoach takes the virtual trophy with a time of 11:46, no merlot spilled. Tclaps brother, you have set the bar for us.
- This was the first of many beer miles to come, hope to have a bigger pax next time around.
- This was nothing short of CSAUP and one of the most fun runs I have ever done.
