The Murph always recognizes the sacrifice of Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, U.S. Navy Seal (and PSU political science grad!). Today our Murph also honored the 13 U.S. service members who lost their lives in a bombing outside the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Powerball was already wrapping up his Murph as Poutine, Man Down, Gumby, and YHC arrived and got started.

Our first mile honored Army Staff Sgt. Ryan C Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee.

Each of our ELEVEN sets of pull ups, merkins, and squats honored a different Marine, listed here:

Cpl Humberto A Sanchez, 22, of Logansport, Indiana;

Lance Cpl David L Espinoza, 20, of Rio Bravo, Texas;

Lance Cpl Jared M Schmitz, 20, of St Charles, Missouri;

Lance Cpl Rylee J McCollum, 20, of Jackson, Wyoming;

Lance Cpl Dylan R Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; and

Lance Cpl Kareem M Nikoui, 20, of Norco, California.

To finish, we ran another mile, this one in honor of Navy Hospitalman Maxton W Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio.

During the run we took turns carrying the shovel flag.
