#f3mentalbattle
When: Wednesday, February 26, 2020
Where: COT of your beatdown
What: F3 Louisville created #f3mentalbattle where the goal is to bring awareness to mental health issues that affect everyone, with a particular focus on adult men, where mental illness and suicide is at a crisis level. Listen to the F3 Podcast on the topic here. It is very much encouraged for Qs around MeCa (and really any pax attending workouts that day) to use it as a theme of your COT that day. There are no specific talking points, but more of a way to express to everyone that it is absolutely OK to bring up the topic of mental health, and then speak however your heart so moves you. Anything expressed at this time should be regarded as confidential. One of the best things about our brotherhood is the way we continue to build a stronger and stronger environment of trust, support and encouragement for each other. The hope is something like #f3mentalbattle is another small step towards a stronger brotherhood both physically and emotionally.
We have been doing this quarterly about a year now and there have been many instances of men opening up about what they are going through, or just making it clear that we are all in this to support each other. Who could forget Chicken Strip’s testimony from three months ago (read here.) Being VERY intentional about the subject of mental health once per quarter is great, but don’t let it be the only time. Let’s ALWAYS be looking out for one another.
If you happen to be of the Christian faith, Wednesday also marks the beginning of Lent (Ash Wednesday,) which could be helpful in assisting in getting into an introspective state of mind.
Be good brothers. Aye!
