11 PAX Rolled with Stones on Red Friday in honor of Capt. Mark Stubenhoffer

All All MECA Backblasts

May 19th, 2017 By Heatstroke

On this Red Friday, the AO literally lived up to its name as 11 PAX rolled with stones in honor of the late Capt. Mark Stubenhoffer.  Mark was a classmate of mine, and baseball teammate, in high school, and then we also both graduated from Clemson University.  Other than being baseball teammates, we did not really run in the same circles, but I knew him well enough to know he was a great guy who was as comfortable cracking jokes as he was buckling down and working hard.  He would have fit in perfectly at a F3 beatdown.  Unfortunately, on 12/7/2004, on his 2nd tour in Iraq he was killed by small arms fire from insurgents while working overtime to ensure contractors had completed a security wall.  He left behind a wife and 3 children, the youngest of which he never got to meet.  With Captain Mark Stubenhoffer and his family on our minds, we got to work.  Disclaimer and we’re off…

Mobile Warmarama:

We needed to retrieve the stones for today’s work so we moseyed to their resting place but broke up the run performing the following:

Arrive at coupon station and everyone gets a stone and we prepare for the long mosey to the HRMS track.  I am wondering if this will be worse than that actual Thang.  We perform the following periodically (I’m a litle fuzzy on what exactly we did as I was just making it up as I went along) to break up the journey:

We arrive at the 1/4 mile track and head to the far end for the Thang.  We will be performing the Daniel workout and it goes like this:

Tclaps to those that finished the workout, I did not quite get there.  Apparently Whatley noticed some form modification with the rows that made it quite easier, PAX not keeping their legs straight out.  I would normally start calling people out for 45ing it on the form, but modification was probably necessary, as the work was pretty brutal.  No penalties for pulling a 45 here.  YHC had to call it for time and we began the long journey back with the stones.  We broke it up with a few Curls, Tri Exts, Merkins and deposited the stones back at their rightful place at the entrance to the greenway.  Let’s hope they don’t disappear again.  We knock out 20 Monkey Humpers and head back for a quick Mary.

Mary: In honor of Captain Mark Stubenhoffer’s 30 years on this earth, we perform 30 LBCs in cadence to close out the beatdown.

Announcements:

Prayer requests for those mentioned below and their families:

Moleskin:

Long back blast here.  Many thanks to all you gentlemen that posted today.  It was a great performance by the PAX this morning.  Big thanks to those that posted from other AOs, I will definitely be returning the favor.  TClaps to #1 for posting to all 3 RS Red Fridays this month thus far, thanks!  As always, it was an enormous pleasure leading you gentlemen.

  3. Great lead, Heatstroke. Sorry for the loss of your teammate.

  4. “He would have fit in perfectly at a F3 beatdown.” I’ve thought the same thing after every #RedFriday beatdown I’ve attended. T-claps on continuing to honor these heroes! #ahoy
