Red Friday Opener!

All All MECA Backblasts

May 5th, 2017 By Whatley

Prepping for Red Friday I new I had to come up with something good. No idea who would show but it had to be worthy in case we had any visitors. Welcome Help Desk and #1. I beleive in Simple but effective. Back to that in a minute. I have never served but have great respect for those that have. They leave there family’s and often give limbs, there minds, and even there lives. They do this willingly. I personally don’t have anyone close to me who has paid the ultimate sacrifice. Through GORUCK you meet some of these amazing men and hear there stories and are immediately grateful that they exist. They teach you life lessons and make life’s obstacles seem so easy to overcome. I reached out to Cadre Danny Stokes from Washington State. Besides leading GORUCK events, Danny is a Crossfit coach and athlete, father of 4, Operation Enduring Warrior team Athlete. Great organization if you are looking for a charity btw. He retired from the US Army a couple of years ago where he served as an Armor Crewman, Special Forces NCO, and Signal Officer. Also mountain climbs, cycles and has been known to speak Spanish and Chinese Mandarin. While serving on Jolo Island, Philippines, two of his team mates from 1st Special Forces Group were killed after there vehicle struck an improvised explosive device Sept. 29,2009.
Sgt. 1st Class Christopher D. Shaw 37 from Natchez MS. He is survived by his wife and 5 children.
Staff Sgt. jack Mayfield Martin III 26 from Bethany OK. He is survived by his wife.

Let those who have sacrificed so much be honored and never forgotten.

  1. A pleasure gentlemen

  2. @Whatley – great job! I definitely would not have done that on my own. I am stronger because of you guys.

  3. Thanks for the lead, Whatley. Lots of reps and running- miserable. You then followed up the main course with a marathon Mary session like Sparky’s from yesterday.

Thanks to Heatstroke for partnering up.

Glad to again see 75% of the Stone Cold mud run team in attendance. Not so sure what to say about that other guy.

    Until next time.

  4. Great beatdown Whatley. Definitely feeling…beat down. Thx to Marie for handling a heavier workload during my glacial moseys back and forth. Thoughts and prayers to the families of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
