A Warm Winter’s Day

All All MECA Backblasts

January 18th, 2017 By Maximus_MECA

Six of Tradition’s finest and burliest men gathered today for an Iron First Beatdown. Yes – it is January 18th and the recent snow alert but a distant memory. This is 2017 and the winter of warmth. YHC awoke to a balmy 63 degrees and ventured out at 5:15 for a quick run around the dreaded Senior Citizens’s center. Then the pax began to arrive. Gentle Grizzly by bike, then Shawshank in the trusted white sedan and then Flash. And upon a rush the veterans Guiness and Dutch. Time to beatdown….

Mosey around the church..

Warm-ups – ssh’s, ists, windmills and cotton pickers. Low slow squates, merkins and plankjacks. Arm circles and Michael Phelps.

Next 6 cinder block stations were set and alternated to include AMrep shoulder presses, squats, skull crushers, lat pulls, cinder block burpees, curls and clean and presses (via kbells). The tire was used to walk and flip as a timer. 4 rounds were completed with a mosey in between to cool us off. Mary consisted of lbc’s, low flutters, box cutters, rosalitas, low dollies and w’s.

To All: way to push and make the workout meaningful at your own pace.

@flash – great you joined us. way to get started.
@dutch – glad you can now overachieve on back exercises in the low flutter position – 6 inches off the ground versus an lbc position. Way to increasingly overachieve. #less mushy.
@guiness – dedicated, pound through exercises
@shawshank – always a pleasure to see you before you go “help” the unfortunate, prison population
@ gentle grizzly- hope your foot feels better soon. tahnk you for joing us.

  3. Looks like a beat down meant to make a man beefy and mighty! It’s a shame I can’t both be at the Cruise and Iron Fist at the same time.

Awesome to see @Flash head out again.

    1. Thanks for the comments Pax. Yes – it was a mighty day – not a day for the feint of heart or John Kerry wannabees.
