A Touch of Spanish Lingo To Top Off Your Burpee Broad Jumps

All All MECA Backblasts

September 22nd, 2016 By SS Minnow

Parking lots were made for parking, right? Well yes, but on this misty morning 8 Harrisburg Pax found another use for The Ridge parking lot. It involved burpee broad jumps, and several other sweat producing movements. This is what the Pax did:

Mosey through parking lot with high knees and butt kickers

Warm-o-rama

Side straddle hop, Wind Mill, Cotton Pickers, Merkins, Mountain Climbers, Air Squats

The Thang

Starting at corner of parking lot nearest the school entrance……repeat this set of four across all the parking lanes and stop when you reach the driving lane that separates the two parking lots (total of 9 reps……so 9 burpee broad jumps at the end)

  1. Run one length of the parking lot (either straight length or make a u-turn to next lane if starting in the middle)
  2. Do: 10 x merkins, 10 x LBC, & 5 x WW II Situps
  3. Back peddle half the length of the parking lot
  4. Do 1 burpee broad jump…then increase this by 1 each time this set is repeated

Early finishers pick up the six and continue until all finish with 9 burpee broad jumps

Mosey to wall beside practice field

Plan was to do partner exercises as follows

Called an audible on these as we were running out of time. We managed to get almost all of these done

Mosey to Mary

Moleskin / Announcements

Always an honor to lead, men. Thanks for bearing with me and pushing hard on the parking lot excursion

Thanks for the impromptu Spanish lesson on the ten-count, Casper

Clueless plans to do some pre-workout speed work in the near future geared toward improving your speed and seeing how fast you can run a mile. ….. sounds like a deserving F3 challenge …. got any details, Clueless?

Wings of Eagles double-down opportunity this Saturday…your favorite Saturday WO at 0700 followed by WoE at 0900 (or whenever you can get there)…these WoE projects have always been a win/win for the Pax and for WoE…here’s the pre-blast

F3 Dads at Mallard Creek Park at 0700 this Saturday

  1. Nice work to Gamma for posting after “hard work” on Wednesday night F2. Swami, where were you 🙂

  2. Muchas Gracias Señor SS Minnow

  3. Workout was definitely harder than it looks on paper! Thanks for the lead @SSMinnow.

I think @Casper needs to brush up on his foreign language skills. We all know “ten-o” is French, not Spanish, for 10.

  4. Thanks for the lead @SSMinnow! Including last week, I think you’ve met the burpee quota for the remainder of the year.

More to come on the You vs You mile challenge. Back in high school, when we had to run a mile for time (the last time many of us were ever timed on one mile) I thought I should be able to go sub 6 minutes. I never did… but never really worked or put in the time to make it happen. So, this is just another bucket list challenge for me. I thought it would be a fun thing to share with the PAX that’s not too taxing on the body… especially for non-runners like me.

I’m still looking through plans for a good schedule fit. At a high level, the work will likely take place at 5am on Tues/Thur/Sat prior to bootcamps. It will involve interval work. Probably looking at an 8 week program. First day would involve running a mile to establish a base time. Last day, you try to exceed your goal.
