MSR Swimming Pool Run
All All MECA BackblastsJuly 6th, 2016
9 pax posted for a run and when they finished it looked like they had all jumped in a pool. Just a wee bit humid out there today men.
The Thang:
- Millstream Repeats (MSR). https://www.strava.com/segments/10138006?filter=overall
- Had guys doing 1, 2, and 3 laps of the MSR Triple Peak segment. That delivered anywhere from 4 – 5.5 miles of sweaty pain.
The Naked Moleskin:
- Amazing how much tougher this run is on a 75 degree day with 90% humidity. Ouch. Plus, just when you think the pain is over as you crest your final MSR hill, you still have a MILE + to get home. Great mental training for the BRR guys.
- Lower numbers today but don’t worry my #Cruise regulars, I see you out there on Strava getting it done! Lots of beach running going on this week.
- Did you know that as you run in the hotter months, your body compensates for the heat by increasing your blood volume? That is one of the reasons why you feel so dang good during those initial weeks of cooler weather – you in essence have pulled ofrf a legal blood doping scheme and all it took was months of gut wrenching, hot weather effort. Why would anyone want to bypass that and opt for the low pain all gain blood centrifuge approach?
- It was AWESOME to have @Meathead out with us again – a great dude. Don’t you love those unplanned Harris Teeter run-ins when you get re-EH’ed by a brother who wants to see you out in the gloom getting better? Keep coming out man.

Glad it is over. Tough run today. Play the long game. This will all pay off come fall when you are in the best running shape of your life. Put this sweat to work – plan on doing the THunder Road/Charlotte Marathon half or full marathon this year. Plenty of guys to train with. Talk to me.
