Memorial Day Metro Charlotte Convergence: How do you say thank you?

All All MECA Backblasts

March 14th, 2016 By Little Mike

Triple Down Memorial Day with Wounded Heroes at the Patriot Festival Go The Extra Mile 5K

Come honor our fallen and wounded military heroes and work out with some previous and active duty military at a special F3 convergence on Memorial Day:  Monday, May 30th.  All F3 shovelflags will be raised to salute our fallen vets and the PAX will gather to join some active duty military for a giant Circle of Pain on the field in front of the Symphony Park at SouthPark at 0700.  For those so inclined, follow the Shovelflags as the workout continues into the Go The Extra Mile 5k that starts at 0730 (for those that do not desire to run the 5k, a breakout QIC will finish the regular F3 workout).  As the PAX finish the 5k, we will gather in a giant COP until all PAX have crossed the line, then the PAX will lead the Go The Extra Mile F3 style – running as a group with shovel flags raised high to honor the sacrifice of those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.  Finally, we will conclude with a massive Circle of Pain in the amphitheater (or the park in front depending on number of PAX), and a Special Circle of Trust with a Moment of Silence.

After the race, F3 leadership will present the Patriot Go The Extra Mile Award to a veteran who has truly Gone the Extra Mile.

The cost to run the race and the Extra Mile is $30.  We have arranged a special opportunity for F3 PAX to contribute a little extra. ALL of the additional proceeds go directly to sponsor former and active duty service members in the run and to benefit wounded heroes and their families.

Go to  https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Charlotte/PatriotFest5k to sign up now – make sure to click on the F3 sign-in to sponsor a wounded vet!  Even though the F3 rate is $45, the extra funds go to sponsor a hero to participate with us in the race!

Registration begins at 0645 at the corner of Barclay Downs and Carnegie, so come early to get registered before the workout.  Best place to park will be at the mall in the Dick’s parking lot – after you register, meet in the grass in Symphony Park

  1. Little Mike, I am glad to see the 5K Go The Extra Mile is back on for 2016. I actually created this event when I was the fundraising manager for Patriot Charities. I have run in it every year. It is very special event to me and as member of F3 I will be heavily EH’ing everyone in Union County to participate. Hit me up at curtisburk@gmail.com if there is anything I can do to help on the F3 side and I am reaching out Kendria with Patriot Charities too.

    1. That is awesome! This has been a great event for the PAX and we are looking forward to being back this year. Will hit you up to discuss.
