Eight men embraced the suck and bravely endured the (threat of) heavy rain (that started an hour after we finished). Not sure how we survived, but we did it….

(Yes, I’m mocking the rest of you)

Route was posted the day before, but after a quick discussion, we modified it a bit and took the long way to The Box. Once there, race pace on the first side of the box, then jog the rest….then race pace on the first two sides, then jog the rest, and so on. With the modified warm-up and return, four laps would get you around 5 miles.

1. Thanks for coming out. Candidly, five runners and three ruckers was more than I was expecting…

2. Exit led the runners with 6 miles, down to me with 4.3 miles, and with an early start, the ruckers got in 4 miles.

3. Love the “friendly competition” between Exit and his BRR teammates, Bonvoy and Dud. “I almost lapped you two.” “Well, ‘almost’ means you didn’t lap us, so there’s that.”

4. Slight watch (operator) malfunction as Othello and I thought we had more time so we took the long way back. Realized the mistake early on, but once this train starts in a certain direction, tough to turn around…

5. Solid coffeeteria discussion, covering all the important topics like best funeral home slogans, how the chosen people celebrate Christmas, bridge decorations in Juarez, truck stop food, history of Mariah Carey’s career as told by Oz and of course, beaver nuggets. Can’t make this stuff up….

6. Without looking it up, name the band.

7. Come out to The Ridge tomorrow.

Cheers!
