Six Turkeybowl MVP’s hit the gridiron for a morning of drills in the damp fog.  The team was great, their coach (YHC) not so much.  Word has his salary has been cut and he has now been demoted to “waterboy.”

Looked like there were no Bull-run takers this gloom.  If there was, would we have known about it?  Probably not.  Lousy disclaimer, then mosey down the steps to the first soccer field.  Circled up around the center of the field and preceded with a little…

The Thang
We first did some drills to get ourselves limbered up and then right into running play’s.  We began with the limbering and the drills:
1. Toy soldiers from the 40yrd line to the 30 and back.
2. Up/Downs:  Run in place, hit the deck on YHC’s count, back up x10.
3. Arm circles to catch our breath.
3. Side shuffle suicides: 40yrd line to the 30 and back, to the 20 and back, to the 10.  10 count rest.  Repeato facing the other direction
3.  Train Track hamstring stretch
4.  Regular suicides as outlined in #2.  10 count rest, repeato.
5.  Defensive back drills one at a time, everyone does merkins till their turn x2.

Play Action
This is where YHC successfully showed the Pax that there was not an ounce of football knowledge and/or athletic capability in these bones. Using terms like “down and out”, “run the post”, “go for a bomb”, etc.  Pitiful and embarrassing to say the least.  However much more learned they were compared to YHC, their skills (or lack there of) nonetheless will place them on a D3 team and/or 1st string for this years Turkey Bowl.

DT was the first “steady QB” throwing passes that were missed, bobbled and occasionally caught.  @talladega probably had the most catches and for all intense and purposes was probably our “A” player. We ran a few offensive/defensive plays, flea flickers and other double/triple hand-off play action fakes that only McCaffrey would be proud of!

Around 0740 DT had to take off so we took a break to Native American Run his arse back to his car, stopping to do a little LBCx10 at the steps and them repeato the run back to the football field.

More play-action ensued with some “diving action” by YHC (I will definitely feel this tommorow), great throws, catches and just a fun time all around.  We picked everything up at 0755ish and made a bee-line to the cars for 2 rounds of Mary (Box cutters and American Hammers x10ea) before YHC realized he went over time by 2 minutes.  Extra credit. Crap!

3. @Misfire:  Great to see you out there but you have to catch those “bread-basket” throws!
4. @ Constitution & @Goldrush: Looking good on offense and defense fellas. I see a 10th round round draft pick in your futures.
5. @Talladega:  Remember us little guys when you are in the NFL.
6.  YHC had a blast today running those plays and catching the pigskin.  I think we all had a good time, lot’s of laughs and cutting up.  The Turkey Bowl will be here before you know it so start taking your ibuprofen and make sure your medical insurance is up to date, right @Wexler?
