11 Harrisburg 5K trainees…

…took to the streets this morning for a jaunt over to the Park in an effort to “test drive” the Harrisburg 5K route one last time before the big event this Saturday.  Various forms of modification took place and everyone got in between 3-5miles+.

The Thang

Attached you will see the “back-of-the-napkin” drawing which I received from an undisclosed source through a car window in a plain brown paper bag under a dimly lit street lamp the prior evening evening.

We started from Town Center and mosey’d over to the Start/Finish at the Park.  From there we tried our best to follow the route which is described below.

• L on Simms
• R on Oakley
• R on Henderson Circle
• R on back on Oakley
• R on Harris Depot
• L on RR Ave
• L on Martha Melvin
• Turn around at Alexander Hill back down Martha Melvin
• R on RR Ave
• Straight into the Park, stay to left side of pond
• Follow Gravel path into the rear of the parking lot (NOT HR HILL)
• Continue up parking lot and L onto Simms
• L on road to Amphitheatre
• Skiped-R onto the Soccer Field walk/jog path
• Skiped-One lap around fields
• Skiped-L back onto the Amphitheatre road
• Turn around approx 7’6″ from Median Island
• Back down the Amphitheatre road
• L on Simms
• L to Start/Finish
• R on Oakley
• L on Harris Depot
• Cross Over 49
• R on Parallel to Town Center

We started with 10 and ended with 11 Pax (@Wexler decided to join us at the last minute).  We had a few minutes to spare but when YHC asked the group if they wanted to run a little more, everyone avoided eye contact.  Yes, I could have done some stretching but the blood was rushing back into my head and I was a little foggy.  That’s what I get for trying to keep up with @SSMinnow and @10cent, AYE!

2. Harrisburg 5K this Saturday-sign up NOW! Looks like F3 HBurg will be well represented.  Hope to see some age-group podium pics from the group.  If nothing else, at least new “couch to 5k” and/or “you can do this too” pics on the YMCA twitter feed.
