When I’m done, I want you to remember my name.

We will all enjoy the game.

I will take all the blame.

No one will hang their head in shame.

When I’m done, just remember my name.

17 of my closest homies came out and conquered the gloom this morning.   It has been a long time coming, but YHC made his first real return to the gloom since some time in early 2020.  It has sucked, and I really did not know how much I missed it.  It is good to be back in the game.  The rumor mill had been flying about the where abouts of YHC.  Sure there were sitings…”I saw him running up Stallings this morning”…”Nah, wasn’t him.  I saw him on Rocky River Crossing”…”Not, Bull.  I ran with him down Shamrock. At least I think I did, he said “what up boyz,” and when I turned to see where he was, he was gone…all that was there was a puddle of sweat”….but this was the first full boot camp in months…it was grande.

As the headlights kept rolling in, the clock struck 5:30 and we took off down the parking lot to the gate and down the gravel road.  We circled up and did 20 SSH’s in cadence (IC) and headed off further away from the incoming cars.  “I’ll teach those yahoo’s to be here on time” were my thoughts as we trotted further down the gravel road.  We circled up under the light to give them a chance to find us and did some merkins…Then YHC had visions of DT curled up on the hood of his car taking a siesta, like a sleeping cat, stealing the warmth from the hood, after not being able to find us.  Thinking better about the cat and mouse game…We doubled back to gather up the stragglers and headed out toward the middle school.  We stopped at the stop sign, knocked out some mountain climbers, and then moseyed down to the next opening…After a round of diamond merkins, we made our way to the middle school road.  10 quick burpees and moseyed on to our final destination…the parking lot in front of the middle skool.

Being that most of The Ridge is rather flat, YHC felt the need to find a decent way to simulate hills.  YHC was not sure how it would work out, but hearing a little rumble within the Pax, I think it worked out alright.

We did 5 rounds:

15 Air Squats

15 Lounges each leg

1 lap around the parking lot (maybe 1/8 mile)

We then back tracked to the cars, stopping along the way to do 10 burpees, clock merkins, and diamonds.

Back at the cars, we circled up for a little Mary:

20 Low Dollies

20 Low Flutters

Homer to Marge…..for those who know….it felt like the first time.

If you were there, thanks for joining me and allowing me to lead.

The Skinny:

  1. Tumbler was crushing it out there, even if he accused YHC of being a little harsh on the Pax.
  2. YHC could tell that Dick Tracy missed him some Bull
  3. FNG Brandon flat killed it.  I don’t think he broke a sweat.
  4.  The pitch fork has been good prep for Ivey League on this work out.  He was another one making it look E-Z.
  5. Don’t be like me and go ahead and sign up for the Hammerhead 5k/10k on July 31
  6. Clueless, Pancake, and Expresso kept socially distant, but still managed to get some planks in
