Happy 245th!
All Harrisburg BackblastsJuly 3rd, 2021
10 of the finest men in Harrisburg that weren’t traveling, injured, recovering from surgery or marking their parade territory came out to The Rail Yard to put in some work.
#disclaimer
Warm-up jog towards the shelter, right into the parking lot then down the ramp to the field.
SSHs x25
Air Squats x10
Pair up and line up along the track.
One partner runs to the bench and back while the other does an exercise. Switch and repeat until the cumulative reps are done:
25 Burpees
50 Hand Release Mericans
75 Jump Lunges
100 SSHs
Head down the track, jump the temporary fence to the concession stand, only to find the benches have been removed, so we continued to the shelter at the far side.
4 Burpees and 4 Single-Leg Step-Ups every minute for 10 minutes.
Continue behind the amphitheater, past the Bon Jovi cover band tour bus, being careful to step over the sleeping groupies, and on to the bottom of Forest Street.
With your partner again, one runs up the road to the fire hydrant and back while the other does Burpee Broad Jumps up the road. Switch and repeat until you’re both at the top.
Executive decisions were made, then we headed over to the new lot.

1. Great work on a perfect morning. Thanks for coming out and giving full effort.
2. Pre-runs were interesting. Not often do you have to dodge people and chairs on the sidewalks at 5:30 on a Saturday morning. Strong effort by Pocahontas, Sheep Dog, Wexler and Tumbler.
3. Imagine your a sheriff assigned to the park this morning and your sole responsibility is to keep people out of the park. Probably feeling pretty good until you see 10 cars drive past you on their way out. I bet Mad Dog ran a much tighter ship when he worked security! But seriously, God bless that deputy and all his co-workers. Their jobs are hard enough, then add a whole weekend of dealing with holiday crowds. Many thanks to all those out serving their communities, as well as all those serving our country.
4. I appreciate Tumbler warning me ahead of time that he was going to swear at me multiple times as we headed to Forest Street.
5. Oz said he came ready for work and even brought his tools…..oddly, though, he declined my offer to put those to good use on a few projects at my house.
6. Thanks to Wexler for teaming up with me and doing more than his fair share. He’s got this 4th of July Parade thing down to a science – buy a bag of candy, stay home and just throw the candy at the kids as they lay on the couch. Genius!
7. Hong Kong Phooey may or may not have been renamed this morning. MQ vetoed a change…..but if you ever want to see HKOP get excited, ask him if he can set something on fire. Strong work by him and Kojak. Definitely a formidable team. If we hadn’t stopped them, they’d still be Burpee Broad Jumping and probably be to Kannapolis by now.
8. After conquering another HTL last weekend, Gapper is sporting some serious elbow scabs…..apparently low-crawling in Bermuda grass is not recommended.
9. Coffeeteria talk centered around the good ‘ole days of massive 4th of July Parades featuring schools, kids, veterans, fire trucks, etc…..not Hawthorns and Bob’s TV Repair floats. But it’s still our town and we love it!
10. Continued prayers for all those recovering from recent surgeries.
11. See Wexler’s post about the Hammerhead 5/10k on July 31st. Launches at 9am from percent Taphouse, which will open at 10am again. All for a good cause, so please support even if you aren’t running. Time Laps has now been announced for October 22nd/23rd. A Harrisburg team is already forming, so let us know if you’re in.
12. Fun fact in the world of it’s-all-a-matter-of-perspective: some in England jokingly say “Happy Treason Day!” on July 4th.
13. Happy Independence Day, gentlemen. Enjoy the holiday weekend, stay safe and be thankful for the freedoms we have.
