Bells & Burpees – Rainy Edition
All East Charlotte BackblastsSeptember 25th, 2020
So this morning was very much the “gloom.” Cars were present at the gate parking area with our “gatekeeper” moving slow this morning. Even an FNG showed up and was waiting to see what this F3 stuff was all about. I hemmed and hawed trying to figure out how to make a planned Q fit into the rainy conditions. After a bit of mumble chatter we grabbed our bells and headed into the park and found the lone picnic shelter, moved a table and set up in the darkness. I gave a lousy disclaimer, something about be safe, go at your pace, modify as needed and you can’t sue anyone. Well maybe Othello, but that’s because he is from NJ.
So we didn’t have a mosey lap, but we did a little warm-up.
15 SSH – 15 Imperial Walkers – 14 Happy Appy’s (I “inflected” too early – so we all paid a 1 burpee penalty) 10 Penny Pickers – 10 Merkins – then we did 15 SSH at “double time” pace. No reason – just because.
THE THANG – 10 Reps x 5 rounds = 50 + 5 burpees per round
Round 1 – 10 Standing Chest presses – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 2 – 10 Goblet Squats – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 3 -10 Laying Chest presses – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 4 – 10 KB March – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 5 – 10 Curls – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 6 – 10 KB Flutterkicks – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 7 – 10 Upright Rows – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 8 – 10 T-bag Squats – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 9 – 10 Tricep Extensions – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
Round 10 – 10 American Hammer – 1 Burpee – Repeat for 5 rounds
We finished early because we had no recovery laps in between rounds – so I called an audible and we did a round of Peoples Q alternating with Q calling exercise in between each pax called exercise.
We did a variety of exercises + another 50 burpees for a total of 101 burpees today.
No Mary because she was at home complaining about the rain and getting my coffee ready.
We did the count, Name-a-rama, then got to know a little about the FNG and committed to name him on his next visit. (college baseball player / from Bessemer City / works with Atrium taking care of a lot of their needs / was known as ‘Big Stank’ on his college baseball team)
NMM – I grabbed my smaller bell out of the trunk in a hurry and felt like a wuss next to Blue Crush who had a big bell today and was killing it next to me. I should have moved.
All the pax worked hard today despite the rain and there was very little whining about the rain, our unusual location, or in the amount of burpees called today. Adversity brings brothers together and shared pain builds bonds.
Prayers for the Body, and the FNG from Monday (Ranger) who Delta has talked to this past week.
As always, an honor to lead. Hoo-ah!
