Dodging the Lightning and Thunder…But Not the Rain: August Highlands Murph

All BackBlasts Backblasts

August 31st, 2020 By Powerball

@Poutine & YHC chose to close out August 2020 with the Murph, which is named in the memory of Navy Seal Lt. Michael Patrick Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005.  A return to the pre-pandemic go time of 0530 was met with lightning and thunder in the area, but no rain…at the time.  @Poutine checked whatever trusted weather App he uses and shared, “I think this is gonna head north of us.”  No one else arrived, so the disclaimer was trusted between the two of us.

A brief WARMARAMA to get the blood flowing: Side-straddle hops, Imperial Storm Troopers, & Penny-Pickers.

MURPH:

Early into the first mile, the rain started to come.  Lightly, at first…and then…it started pouring rain.  Keeping in mind the mantra that “you only get wet once”, we stayed with it.

Both PAX concluded their 10th set around the same time.

MARY: Not today

COT occurred during the second mile.
