5 Pax ‘Conquered The Mountain’ Together

All Rolling Stone Backblasts

June 12th, 2020 By Manwich

YHC picked up two other Pax in the clown car and headed over to the AO for some M3 action.  Birdseye was already there with flag in hand struggling to find some soft dirt.  That ground is as hard as concrete.  It looked like it was just going to be four of us until halfway through the disclaimer we saw the headlights of Heatstroke’s Camry headed for the parking lot.  We circled up for a few non cardio warm up exercises.

Warm-O-Rama:  IC:  10 WM, 10 IST, 10 Loose Change.  Mosey to Suntrust with some butt kickers and high knees.  Circle up 15 SSH IC.  Mosey to ABC store for 10 Merkins IC…….(mumble chatter from Heatstroke about the pavement being too rough on his hands vs. Suntrust parking lot.)  Mosey over to the disco lights at the BP carwash for 10 Squats IC.  Mosey back to the AO then some toy soilders and deep elbow to ankle lunge walks.  Circle up with kettlebell and OYO:  5 KB High Pulls, 10 KB Presses, 10 KB Curls.

Lot’s of mumble chatter from Heatstroke about the non-original versions of this mornings music playlist and a few squat & KB swing form citations were given.

M1, ‘Conquer The Mountain’, 14 min time cap.

Everyone ‘Conquered The Mountain’ this morning in under 14 minutes.  250 total mountain climbers completed.  Good work!  Cooled down with a slow mosey around BB&T then back to the AO for M2.

M2 (Mobility):   Mix of low body and spine yoga type stretches/positions.

M3 (Merlot): None

Moleskin / COT / Namearama:

This morning we conquered a bit of a physical metaphorical mountain but the phrase ‘conquering mountains’ can have a different meaning for each one of us.  I want to share this short article I found online written by Chris Thomson, Faculty Member with the BodyMind Institute

Mountains are a wonderful metaphor for the challenges we encounter in life, and for the way we meet them. They are also a metaphor for the many opportunities and possibilities that come our way, and for the way we take advantage of them. When we climb mountains, we sometimes have to face our deepest fears and find ways of overcoming them. In doing so, we get to know ourselves better, but we also learn more about our potential – what we could do, if we really put our mind to it.

On mountains, we have to learn new skills and new knowledge, to be able to move safely and enjoyable. For example, we have to learn to “read the terrain”, just as we have to be able to understand what’s happening in the world around us. And we have to learn to cooperate with, and trust, others, because on the mountains our lives sometimes depend on it. On mountains, we see “new horizons” and new “summits”, and we are able to look at the world from “new viewpoints”, enabling to see completely new things or to understand things as we have never understood them before.”
