The Streak is Over
All Rolling Stone BackblastsJune 6th, 2018
7 brave Pax came out for the weekly suck of the Rolling Stone Cruise. 7 being a solid number for the Cruise, but not enough to maintain the double-digit streak we had going for 9 days. It was a great day for a run at 60 deg, so with the promise of something special from YHC, we repeated last week’s newly inaugurated “Lasso”, brought to you by Heatstroke. Some say I stole it… I say I supported the new route. Disclaimer…
The route was as follows:
- North on Moss Farm
- Left on Napa
- Left on Moss Plantation
- Enter the “lasso loop”
- Right at the dead end on Ravenscroft (aka Pax St.)
- Follow Ravescroft all the way around to it’s dead end including the infamous “Ravenscroft Climb”
- Left on Tranquility
- Right on Moss Plantation
- Each Pax complete as many loops as desired (Total mileage with 2 loops = 3.3 mi, 3 loops = 4.1 mi, 4 loops = 4.9 mi
- Then take a left on Moss Plantation
- Right on Napa
- Right on Moss Farm and back to WR Odell Primary
Pax completed between 3.3 and 5.1 mi at various paces
MOLESKIN:
- Solid work by all the Pax this morning…good to have the 3 founding fathers of the Cruise out there this morning – Sugar, Marie Calendar, and YHC.
- Kilowatt and Heatstroke – great push to complete your 4 loops/4.9 mi! Would you look at those runners!
- Soprano – Your getting faster every time. Good job completing your 3 loops!
- Roomba – Mad props my man! I wasn’t expecting to see you out there after yesterday’s injury. You’re a great example to all of us to persevere through an injury and do what you can. I’m not advocating overdoing it, but it can be tempting to completely drop everything when we get hurt, rather than “do something”.
- I don’t know if we’ll ever see it, but I’d love to see a RS Pax go for 5 loops/5.7 mi. It can be done by maintaining a 7:50 pace for the full 45 min…just throwing it out there.
- As it turns out, we were close to maintaining the streak. Snowflake showed up at CB, couldn’t find us, realized he was in the wrong place, then couldn’t find us in Moss Creek. With him, Pox, Golden Boy, Zima, Love Seat, or Hippie, we could’ve easily hit 10. Oh well, I guess I have to let it go.
PRAYERS:
- Continued prayers for Marie Calendar’s mother
- Col. Russ Olson – struggling through long recovery from foot injury… 70+ years young and still going strong as a great example to all of us.
- Prayers for Guatemala and Hawaii with the destruction from volcanic activity
The LORD is on my side; lI will not fear.
What can man do to me?
The LORD is on my side as my helper;
I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.
…hope you got your money’s worth!

Good call today Sparknut – I’m beginning to like this route. Perfect little incline, distance variations and keeps the PAX somewhat together. Maybe we should try it with the Greenway thrown in sometime????
Thanks for the shout out but we can’t take credit for the cruise however we did revive it from a ‘coma’ of sorts. Glad to see it going strong – even if running is dumb đŸ˜‰
