THE RECAP:
Your Q had mixed feelings when he checked the weather last night. On one hand, the temperature for today’s run would be high-40s – pretty much bang-on perfect. On the other hand, there was a non-zero chance of rain, with it looking increasingly likely as it got closer to 6am. Hoping for the best, I went on Slack and announced the forecasted temps while leaving out the part about rain.
The gambit worked, as we had five dedicated PAX ready and waiting at 0530. I was also told that @Riptide was temporarily out of pocket but would try to track us down, so I left some directions with the Yoga crowd.
So we were off, initially crossing over on Parallel for a quick jaunt to and over Porkchop Biscuit Hill. Then we crossed 49 and headed back East toward the bridge. We had barely made the turn onto School when we spotted a headlamp coming to head us off at the intersection w/ Robinson. No surprise – it was @Riptide, who had followed the directions even better than expected.
Heading down to Stallings, we took turns admiring @Gamma’s shiny new Clydesdale shirt – then at the park we sped around the shelter, past the ball fields and onto the Elementary school track. Once there, it was eight minutes of track running at your own pace. I think everyone got 2-3 laps in.
From there, it was just a direct course back to the Town Center and finish line. No laggards today, with @Gamma setting the pace most of the way back to 49. We moseyed up to the Sports Junction corner to find… well, nobody. The Yoga crew was nowhere to be found, and it was apparent that @SSMinnow had hijacked their regular routine so he could get some running in.
Appreciate the solid turnout today – I know we’ve probably had more on a Wednesday, but I can’t ever recall having at least six at both workouts on the same day. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
