Thankful for the small things?

All BackBlasts Backblasts

November 22nd, 2017 By RibShack

A lucky Pax of 7 showed up today to see what the “small things” were all about. YHC was inspired by a few Tradition workouts many moons ago by Triple Threat were he made the Pax suffer & run miles & even Old Glory with bricks in hand. Not sure if we endured quite the level of pain I seem to remember he inflicted but we did about 1.5 miles today & it felt pretty “good”.

The Body was tasked to bring up the rear & temporarily renamed “Blinky”. Good to see Triple Threat today & driving yet another brand of vehicle Chum noted.  Nosedive arrived just in time for an abbreviated version of the infamous “don’t be a dick” disclaimer (the real one, in context & proper). We grabbed some small things, some bricks out of the back of the land barge & took off on a mosey with bricks in hand.

****All activities must be done with bricks in hand at all times****

Warmup Mosey out of the school lot, over to Philly Presby Church (PPC) & down into a corner parking lot. YHC has been eyeing this little hill & figured it could fit into a workout one day. One of the few “hills” within a 22.5 minute radius of any of the MH AO’s.

Expanded Disclaimer- PPC added to list of legally non responsible parties for anyone’s poor decisions or physical breakdowns today

Warmup: SSH, Low Slow Squat, 3 Burpees (YHC exclaimed rare pleasure over resident Rabbit @NoseDive not particularly enjoying the SSH w’ bricks in hand. Backstory- Bacon usually struggles & Rabbits rule on distances & cardio. It’s very rare Bacon has any sort of edge on a Rabbit except when lifting things.)

Partner Up.

Partner 1- run, with one brick in hand to street, deposit brick at curb, run back

Partner 2- LBC’s until Partner 1 returns

Flap jack until all 4 (or in Body’s case, all 5) bricks are at top of hill at the street. LBC’s followed by Reverse Crunches. Meet at starting point then mosey to top of hill to retrieve bricks.

Mosey back to East side of School for Muscle Ups. First with single layer bricks, give to partner for double layers, flap jack, single layer for (40) muscle ups total ***made possible by the absence of @High Chair to whom this exercise would not have been possible***

Mosey back to Flag for a brick swap out for anyone, including YHC who had broken theirs & needed a new one. Body preferred his by now 8 pieces of bricks apparently & chose to stick with what he had. Mosey over to no man’s land where cinder blocks were placed.

The Thang: (still in partner groups) Cycle through 3 stations listed below.

Cycle 1: Round the Clock Mericans on Cinder Blocks (9 total, staggered & regular), Incline Merican up Step One then Bear Crawl to Incline Mericans up Steps, Dips at Back of School (20 total)

Cycle 2: Round the Clock Mericans on Cinder Blocks (12 total, staggered, incline & regular), Decline Merican up Step One then Crawl Bear to Decline Mericans up Steps, Step Ups at Back of School (20 total) with 5 Burpee Penalty to try & slow Hugo/Skins pairing down.

Brick Modified Mary: Side Arm Raises in Cadence, Reverse Side Arm Raises in Cadence. Triple Threat’s Hated Man-Makers (60 seconds forwards, 60 seconds reverse), Goblet of Fire with Both Bricks until Time Called **EVERYONE WINS, PARTICIPATION TROPHIES FOR ALL**

Countarama, Namearama

Lock Shields for Modified Peoples Prayer- each Pax declared what they were Thankful for this Holiday (amazingly no one mentioned the bricks or any small thing)

A good verse to remember this week…………….Psalm 9:1 NIV:  I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

  1. I’m thankful for the honor of leading MH Pax today, for my F3 brothers whom I can always count on & the love of my family.

Safe travels to all the traveling Pax & their families today.

Don’t forget, no MH organized F3 activities tomorrow or Friday. Next Post is to be on Saturday at 7am at The Vet. It is an “Open Post” & ALL are welcome, including M’s & 2.0’s. I guess you could bring a pet or three but might want to make sure they are on a leash….your pets not your M!

  2. I forgot- special thanks to @HighLife for ruining the “theme” of today’s workout. Had several construction related quips & anecdotes to go along with the bricks but it was pointless when the builder guy fart sacks. 🙂
