Welcome Party on Frostbite Field

All Rolling Stone Backblasts

November 20th, 2017 By Heatstroke

YHC awoke at 0345 just dragging.  Yeah, I know, the 0345 speaks for itself, but this was more than usual.  Since I was QIC and had committed to a 4 mile Pathfinder pre ruck, I found my way to CB just after 0415 where Project was waiting.  We discussed how this was probably the coldest morning (under 30) since maybe earlier this year and wondered if any PAX would roll in when we were done with our pre ruck.  We finished with a little time to spare and Ty Webb arrived also commenting on the fairly miserable cold conditions.  Long disclaimer given to kill time for worn out Q and we began:

Warmarama: Project & YHC used ruck, no KB / Ty Webb used KB

The Thang: Welcome Party on Frostbite Field – credit to Gulfstream for giving QIC some GoRuck Welcome Party exercises that work for both using a ruck and a KB.  We moseyed to a nice large field area across the lot, past Suntrust, up the hill near the fire house.  We began by doing a bear crawl while pulling or pushing your ruck or kb about 50 yards or so.  Once there, we turned around and held the ruck/kb at our chest and duck walked back.  YHC called it early as this was fairly brutal and we moseyed back to line (note: probably need to work on ruck duck walks.)  Since there was three of us, YHC positioned two pax about 30 yards or so apart on a field.  Third PAX would do the bear crawl drag to one end, relieve PAX and that PAX would then bear crawl drag to the next PAX an so on.  The PAX on the end would do static hold with ruck/kb out in front or overhead until relieved by crawling PAX.  We did a couple of rounds of this and YHC called it as the ground was covered in frost and our fingertips could not be felt anymore.  The rucks looked cool though as they looked like they had been through snowy beatdown.  Note: don’t do field work in sub freezing temps, not good times, but I suppose could be good training for a very cold GoRuck event.  We moseyed back to the CB lot, where hopefully our fingertips would thaw out.  Upon return to lot, we perform “beep, beep I’m a jeep / clank, clank I’m a tank” – jeep – steer your ruck/kb out front – tank – hold ruck/kb over head and keep changing positions as the jingle dictates.  We then perform 5 gets ups with ruck/kb each side.  Ruck/KB thrusters. Low flutters with presses IC.  Merkins IC.  YHC is feeling better, but still worn out.

Mary:

COT: LKN Black Friday convergence beatdown 7-8am D9 opens early afterwards

Moleskin:  YHC is currently thoroughly exhausted as of this typing.  Felt better once moving this morning, but went right back to exhaustion afterwards.  Nice to work from home as I hope a one hour lunch nap/rest helps.  Will be headed to bed early tonight.  Good to get in the 4 pre ruck Pathfinder miles with Project, we are knocking out that particular challenge.  Thanks to Ty Webb for posting as it motivated me to lead a legitimate beatdown…kind of…hope you got something more out of it Ty than just getting miserably cold.  Thanksgiving week is in session, let’s try to be as grateful as possible for everything we have in our lives.
