This was no day to hold on to your bells
All Tradition BackblastsSeptember 1st, 2017
5 Traditioners came out today to laugh at the weathermen who said it would rain. All 5 of us showed up early or on time, and took off on a mosey after a quick disclaimer was given. After the usual route, we circled up for:
Warmorama
SSH x 20
IST x 10
Hillbilly x 10
Cotton Picker x 10
Windmill x 10
Mountain Climbers x 10
Merkins x 10
Arm Circles
Michael Phelps
Bells:
YHC mostly made the workout up at random at this point, as the new kettlebell arrived 2 days early and the workout had been planned for the 45. At the Shovel Flag we did curls, shoulder press, kb swing, kb slingshot, and halos.
We then carried bells to the lower lot just into the light. At this point YHC simply alternated leg and arm exercises, tons of sumo squats and somersault squats were done. Curls, shoulder presses, tricept extenions, shrugs, single arm shrugs, obliques, high pulls, lawn mower pulls, Dutch Cucumbers, bent over rows, and clean and press were all done. There was a brief mosey break to the pull up bars for 5 pull ups, 5 dips, repeato. Then 10 knee ups or toes to bar and 10 bodyweight tricep extensions. We came back later on for more knee ups and extensions.
Near the end, @Dutch and @Guinness were so inspired by the splendor of my new 60lb 2 tone painted bell that they began to speak about how their bells were so light and they needed to go up in weight. YHC suggested they do this on the spot. @Guinness borrowed @Dutch’s 40lb bell… and Dutch looked around for YHC’s 45… but there was only the 60 and 35 (for YHC’s clean and presses). @Dutch manned up to over achieve and grabbed the 60 while YHC did double reps with the 35lb bell. Our final exercises before Mary were shoulder presses and swings. Maybe one more, I forget.
We then carried bells all the way back to Old Glory for Mary:
Mason Twist with bell x 10
LBC with bell x 10
Dying Cockroach x 10
Reverse Crunches x 11
Nice job trying new weights out…. especially to @Dutch using the 60 on the Mason Twist! Good push by all on this super humid morning with a background of STEAMING MULCH. Now if only that light rain at the end lasted more than 5-10 seconds…
