Running, rucking and honoring
All Rolling Stone BackblastsAugust 23rd, 2017
7 PAX took their #drp this am and entered the gloom for a morning of running, rucking and honoring. We split up with 4 running and 3 rucking. Special welcome to FNG Mo who was with the running group.
Jimmy Buffett took unofficial lead of the running group and took them on a tour of the greenway with the always crowd pleasing Fishbone as it sets up as nice Spartan-prep for the Beast he is running this weekend in WV. PAX looked pretty worn out on the greenway and upon return to the lot…the Fishbone will do that.
YHC, Sugar and Whatley followed down the greenway with rucks on, plus one additional ruck to rotate between the three of us for added pleasure. We had a good pace as we traveled the entire greenway and back in 45 min. Project had to bow out this morning due to work, but I know he would have loved to be here as a final tune up for his GoRuck Light this weekend here in Charlotte – his first ever event – Aye!
We return to the lot at 0615. FNG Mo likened the Fishbone to basic training. He might be the 1st ever PAX to have to do the Fishbone on his 1st post, congrats…phew. Don’t let it scare you off!:) Welcome, and come back and join us out here regularly, and get a cool name to boot!
COT:
- Happy Hour tomorrow at Johnny Brusco’s 7:30 or 8:00 start
- Prayers to IR PAX – particularly Schnitzel and Fire Chicken
- Prayers to Whatley’s sister-in-law who has a scheduled double masectomy and reconstruction for breast cancer
- Prayers to Marie’s mother and mother in law in their recoveries
- Prayers to Brimley’s mother in law who just had a bone marrow scan to begin her battle with a rare disease (sorry, I am a little fuzzy on the details of her ailment, Brimley and Cream Cheese feel free to chime in)
- Lastly, I picked up the Q today to specifically honor my mother-in-law who passed away on Saturday. She will be laid to rest today in Lexington, NC. Ethel Faulkner was born almost 78 years ago and dealt with a level of adversity in her life that most will never see. When she was born, she was sent to live with her two aunts with her 2 year old sister and endured a difficult childhood. She reached adulthood, married and gave birth to a daughter. This daughter would pass away at age 14 due to a brain tumor. Fortunately, she had given birth to another daughter 10 months or so before the death of her first daughter. She, and her husband, Sonny, raised their beautiful second daughter, Jenny, to be an amazing woman that I would be lucky to call my wife and raise two wonderful children with. Through all of her hardships, Ethel always kept her faith in God, and that is what kept her strong to the very end. Today we will say our formal goodbye to Ethel, but her lasting impact on our family’s lives will always be with us. RIP Ethel.

Aye!!
I’m diggin’ the running/rucking options and the numbers. I chose fishbone and JB – as usual – was a great Q.
FTR – Mo introduced us to Windmill Crunches. When I get a few moments, I’m going to check to see if that’s in the list o’ exercises.
