This ain’t no BBQ. Celebrating Old Glory as only the PAX can.
All Rolling Stone BackblastsAugust 17th, 2017
17 PAX took their DRP and entered the gloom this am. YHC was not aware that it had rained the night before, which would only add to the delight of this morning’s festivities (#humidity #wetfield.) A show of hands revealed pretty much all present were not familiar with “Old Glory,” well that was about to change. Disclaimer given. A brief description given as to what was about to occur and YHC grabbed the shovel flag and took off towards the HRMS track. No warmarama today.
The Thang:
1 Mile run (mumblechatter about not exactly being a mile, ok, we’ll say .8 miles – more time for real work – less salad, more meat and potatoes.) Sparknut ran an extra mile attemtpting to EH a sad clown, that, or he was trying to avoid burpees that YHC had already mentioned would be performed. Probably a combination of both.
Plant SF in middle of football/soccer field
Each corner of the field represents a station where PAX would rotate/slosh through and perform:
- 20 Merkins
- 20 Jump Squats
- 20 Burpees
- 20 WWIIs – refreshing on the soaked field
- Keep track of circuits (results here)
YHC calls at 0600 – gather at SF at center of field.
1 Mile fellowship run back towards lot, ok .8 miles. PAX exchanging flag along the way. Quick stop at entrance to greenway for some “American” Monkey Humpers 10 IC.
Mary:
Duck, Duck, Goose (without the verbal cues and tapping) just run around the circle while PAX low flutter and IC counter does the W. Go around circle with every PAX being the Goose. Brief stoppage as Sugar felt Mary ended when he was the Goose, nope. Loud, borderline out of control mumblechatter to the completion of the circle and recover, recover.
COT:
- Prayers to my Father and MIL, Marie’s Mother and MIL, Whatley’s SIL, injured PAX (Schnitzel)
- Happy Hour changed to next Thursday at JBs
- F3 Kannon beatdown every Saturday at 7am at research park
- Praise: Welcome Back, Pox!!! Activated from the IR!! Which also brought out Golden Boy, who loves it when I Q!
Moleskin:
- Great work this am gentlemen! That was actually more horrible than I expected, and I expected it to be pretty horrible. I was introduced to “Old Glory” at a Red Friday at Comanche a couple of months ago and it looked like it had never made an appearance at The Stone, so today, that box has been checked.
- When looking at the various OG beatdowns online, I noticed that some performed 10 burpees, while others performed 20. We went with the latter so as not to confuse our mathematically challenged PAX with different numbers, need to keep it simple around here…and terrible.
- Tclaps to our visiting Skywalker brothers who did Sharknado yesterday and OG today, they definitely have similarities…in that they both suck.
- Might be a few Nextdoor complaints with our loud Mary performance.
- Not sure if it is that I have added a few pounds, or just the humidity, but my conditioning has taken a dip. Need to tighten it up.
- Worm Burner bemoaned not doing this beatdown on the track. Nope, would have been way too much running, and the PAX like to play in the mud and the puddles. Towel Webb would have been with you though, WB.
Great way to start the day, gentlemen!

OG!!
In regards to: “We went with the latter so as not to confuse our mathematically challenged PAX with different numbers, need to keep it simple around here”…… WE AREN’T HERE FOR EASY!
Haha! And that right there is the real answer. Had to go the Big Boy route, really don’t care about any math deficiencies.
That was awesome! Next service project… repair football field.
Running around in clockwise circles today was a nice change from running around in counter-clockwise circles yesterday.
