He’s Going the Distance, He’s Going for Speed!

All Rolling Stone Backblasts

August 9th, 2017 By Project

10 Pax including YHC entered the gloom for what was touted as a distance run for both runners, as well as ruckers.  Jimmy Buffet’s standing challenge for PAX to arrive under their own power continues to motivate several of us to run and ruck to and fro.  YHC challenged everyone to attempt a 5K at minimum in the early morning hours.  After early mumblechatter about the increase is PAX posting for a Wednesday, a disclaimer and quick route selections, we were off.

Runners:

Brony, Cream Cheese, Heatstroke, Jimmy Buffet, Kilowatt, Marie Callender, Sparknut.

Runners completed the “P” route, with the addition of the Greenway.  Total distance covered based on PAX route selections were 3.5 to 5+ miles.  Well done men!

Ruckers:

Project, Sugar, Whatley

Ruckers hit the Ggreenway and opted to skip the fishbone for pace.  Continue to the end of the Greenway, then into Moss Creek and made the loop in the cul-de-sac.  Circle back and ruck to the bridge.  At the last bridge, run to the start with ruck.  Total ruck of 2.81 miles at a 15:40 pace.  Missed the 5K mark, but valiant attempt.  There was a noticeable drop in pace at point due to too much mumblechatter.  It happens.

Meet back together at the end.  Mary waived off due to time.

CoT:

F3 Kannon launches NEXT Saturday, 8-12 at 0700 at the NC Research Campus (Saturdays only).  We’ll be asking for support from the Region throughout the first 4-5 weeks of the launch so keep it in mind as a Sat option.  Awesome AO!  You’ll enjoy it.  More importantly, if you know anyone in Ktown, EH them to Kannon.

Thanks for the motivation and challenges each of you bring.  It was an honor to lead each of you today as your Q.  Great job by several new PAX to the Satisfaction Cruise.  Way to represent Rolling Stone tenacity with some recording 5+ miles!  Special recognition to Whatley for his quarterly Wednesday post.

Lessons learned were that even though YHC recorded 4 miles including travel there and back, may need to adjust the route or pace to increase rucking distance in the future.  Ruckers missed the 5K challenge, but it gives us something to work toward under time constraints.  My thoughts were mixing in ruck training days with ruck distance days throughout the month.  Several suggestions on the message boards about a 0500 post for ruckers.  YHC brushed that off for the extra 30 minutes of fartsacking.  Bad idea.  Will revisit the options for the next post.
